On Friday morning, cellphone footage originating from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathan Ross showing the murder of Minneapolis mother and wife Renee Nicole Good was leaked to right-wing media. The new footage conclusively demonstrates that Ross deliberately positioned himself in front of Good’s vehicle to justify murdering her.

        Somewhat unrelated, but

That whole thing (person getting stopped and in his case EXECUTED for simply being of the “wrong” race) reminds me of this episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. While it was nothing new to the black community in the US (or anyone with their eyes open I guess), I think for a lot of people sheltered from these issues it would’ve been eye opening. Personally I grew up in a very white country, in a small town, so by my teenage years I’d probably SEEN a few black people in real life, but never talked to one. Discovered Fresh Prince when I was about 13 or 14 so it might actually have been one of the first pieces of media I’d seen that actually kinda showed the systemic racism issue to me. Later of course I saw all kinds of news articles and discussion online.

One would think that in the span of 35 years (that’s how long ago this episode aired, it was Oct 1990), things get better, society gets more educated and tolerant… But it’s worse now. Way worse. I’m gonna have to blame Murdoch media and the complete disembowelment of the American education system for this one.

This clip shows that he walks in front of the car, and then approaches as she’s already in motion, before killing her. And it shows the dog. It is insanely damning. And then you can compare it to other angles that show him a good two feet away with his first shot.

I’m starting to think their weird mishandling of evidence and making these blatant lies about what happened are purposely being made to create rage and incite riots. Why else would they release his video? It’s obvious from the first few videos that he was a murderer, other than to piss off the people, why would you lie AND release more evidence against him?

From what little I have seen, right wing outlets were interpreting the video as proof the officer was hit by the car because of the way the phone gets jostled at the end. You also can’t see in this video exactly when he draws his gun, or how the shooter is positioned. It’s damning when combined with the other videos, but on its own it’s a lot less clear.

And they also see it as proof that these were “agitators” obstructing “law enforcement” based on the confrontational tone with the woman outside the vehicle. They want to frame the issue as law enforcement vs criminals, rioters and radical domestic terrorists. They want to blame the victim and undercut the narrative that this was an innocent bystander.

Obviously a sane person would recognize that it doesn’t matter if the victim was politically active or even obstructing police, it’s still murder. But these aren’t moral, rational people and they aren’t trying to persuade an audience with legal arguments, just feeding the US vs them mentality.

They want to chip away at the support bit by bit, targeting different messages to try to overcome the natural sympathy people that center right people might have for a pretty white mother with toys stuffed in her glovebox. So they show her wife a lowly lesbian “feeemale” being uppity to a white male authority figure, “justifying” his response.

I’ve also seen attacks on her fitness as a mother (“her responsibility was keeping herself safe for her children” as if simply being at a protest is not a place for anyone with a family) and deliberately using less attractive photos or photos that emphasize her queerness to cut away at those biases.

her responsibility was keeping herself safe for her children

They can expand this even further to try to discourage people from being active. Anything to keep protests down. She was doing what she thought was best for the future, for her daughter (and other children), and she was being what American should mean.

Don’t let any of the personal attacks or questions on motives detract from the blatant murder.

So one thing that I learned from Timothy Snyder is that one of the critical things that leads to political violence is humiliation. This is something that the trump regime is really doubling down on, especially lately, through multiple different channels. They’ve already made clear, explicitly, that they want to cancel the midterm elections. Inciting violence is the means to that end. They’re celebrating her death and flaunting power, ratcheting up violence and amplifying instances of violent outcomes in media. They’ve even fixed their own agent in hopes that someone will try something stupid.

In this sense, Good’s shooting or something like that was inevitable, they’re seizing this opportunity for all it’s worth. They were expecting this and were ready to act. They engineered the situation.

They’ve been pissed about vehicle blocking at ICE raids, the Puppy Killer talked about it on detail in her rationalization speech.

If we could properly investigate this, we would find out that the agents were told to watch for vehicle blocking, and make an example, and send a message. That’s why they obviously deliberately escalated the situation, and unhesitatingly shot her. They were under orders.

So who sent those orders? Puppy Killer? PeeWee Himmler? Trump himself?

Agreed 100%, same with the invasion of Venezuela, releasing ~1% of the Epstein files, and beefing up threats to invade Greenland amongst myriad known and unknown horrors and violations.

They want us mad enough to give them reason to cancel the midterms via a declaration of martial law that will last until those of us that oppose them either step in line or die by their hands. Obviously this will run far past when those of us left standing recall, ‘Today would have been Election Day.’ … ‘Wasn’t he only supposed to be president for four years?’ And that’s to assume we have the luxury to track what day and year it is since we’ll be too busy fighting and dying for it to matter much.

So the video clearly shows her trying to drive away and the ICE agent intentionally going from the back of her car to the front as she is trying to get out of there.

IMO, if someone intentionally walks in front of a car trying to drive away safely, your in the wrong and it shouldn’t even be considered manslaughter if you get run over.

Not only that but there are training documents from 04-07 proving that officers were using standing in front of a moving vehicle as an escalation tactic and they have been deliberately training law enforcement officers to stand clear of vehicles. Well guess whose career stretches back to when that was a common escalation tactic?

This is mob violence logic. You decide someone is bad, then justify anything done to them.

Saying she would have been justified to hit an ICE agent with a car because you hate ICE is the same thinking used to excuse every atrocity. If violence is acceptable against people you fear or dislike, then there is no moral standard at all.

Edit: It’s not logical to play chicken with a car thats a few feet from your body. Vehicles can maim or kill…fear in that situation is a normal human response.

If you think it’s safe or reasonable, flip the situation. Step in front of a couple of SUVs and tell us you wouldn’t fear for your life. Then explain how you reached that mindset.

This is going to sound weird… I actually had a ‘vision’ of this over a year ago.

It was at a parade or celebration. In a large park with short trees. 4th of July maybe. There were cannons. Flags. Picnics. Families.

When in the back of the massive crowd the maga uncovered the weapons and opened fire. Mowing down thousands.

I then saw streets become hills and valleys of corpses.

I’m so confused. The video clearly makes this less cold blooded and a tragedy of errors. Vehicles are weapons and driving away with people walking around your car who also have weapons is a recipe for this type of thing. There are whole conversations on this site about people saying they need more self defense because of this, but they should also recognize that if they were in this situation, they would’ve seen this as a defensible act to protect themselves. Politics aside, this is a good lesson around awareness when trying to protest something and antagonism. We literally watched extremists kill people with cars and are mad about this. If the person was a maga guy, the narrative would’ve been that he got what was coming to him for being dangerous.

They had plenty of other vehicles around they could have boxed her in with. I’m not saying that boxing her in and ripping her out of her car is okay, but it sure is infinitely better than murder.

I don’t know where people got this idea that you can shoot tires to stop a car. Your car will go a long way with a flat tire. And it will go a long way on just the rim. And it will go a long way dragging the rotor, knuckle and even the fender on the ground. There is two ways to stop a vehicle with a gun. One is get lucky enough to hit a critical component, like the computer or the throttle control. Two, is to use a big enough gun to make an inspection hole in the block.

He walked towards her car and was close enough to see she wasn’t armed. (Both of her hands are on the steering wheel and she doesn’t have time to stop steering to grab a gun. And there’s two men very, very near her car watching her every move.)

He went around the back of her car, possibly to see what bumper stickers she had on it. A tactic ‘police’ use to see what they are dealing with.

He then moved his phone from his right hand to his left so he could pull his gun out. You can see this hand swap in his own video.

He stood in front of a moving car. Which anyone of decent intelligence knows not to do. Christ, little kids are taught to stay out of the way of moving vehicles. AND law enforcement are trained not to do this.
The only reasons to do that are immense stupidity or to escalate the situation.

She was turning away from him as she drove away, relatively slowly. There was no wheel spinning. This wasn’t an iraqi insurgent hell bent on blowing up a road block.

He pulled his gun instantly. He was itching to get his gun out.

He shot her in the face and head without hesitation. Why didn’t he shoot the tyres, or engine? Why didn’t he shoot her arms, or torso. Why aim for the head of an unarmed person?
The real question is why shoot at all?
Police aren’t supposed to just execute bad guys that are trying to escape, so they are definitely not supposed to shoot at unarmed civilians that are pulling out of their own driveway.

After he shot her he calls her a “fucking bitch”.

There’s no point in this that he’s not fucking things up. He went out that day to murder someone.

He intentionally walked in front of her car while drawing his weapon to fire. No hesitation, carrying a cell phone and gun and still wasn’t enough to cause anything but a stumble. He called her a fucking bitch and casually walked away.

This was murder, cold blooded, intentional and you are an asshole. Go find somewhere else to suck up to authority.

      Vehicles are weapons

No, they aren’t. They can be used as a weapon, but they are not weapons. Fuck off with this shit.

driving away with people walking around your car who also have weapons is a recipe for this type of thing.

Are you suggesting that people should just open the door of their car for any armed thug? If she had been shot for driving away from a gang, would you be blaming her still? Obviously not. Fuck off with this shit

If the person was a maga guy, the narrative would’ve been that he got what was coming to him for being dangerous.

That’s because MAGA is inherently stupid and violent. They get the blame for running people over because they frequently try to run people over. They aren’t civilized, they’re shit-throwing chimps.

See : James Alex Fields and Heather Heyer.

Quit making excuses for you fondness of boot-licking.
