Isn’t the president of Hungary literally the EU president at the moment. 🤔
Isn’t the president of Hungary literally the EU president at the moment. 🤔
I mean, there are differences between EU countries! If you’re looking to get away from fascism then Hungary might not be your best bet, for example.
My understanding is that on average there are differences in psychology between conservative and progressive people. For example, conservative people tend to be okay with unfairness, since from their point of view society is a hierarchy and of course the people at the top are better off.
Anyway, given that conservative and progressive people have a different vision of an ideal society and also different ideas about how to get there, it is reasonable to expect them at act differently. We know that most politically motivated violence is from the right.
Forcing is absolutely good. We force companies to do all kinds of things, in terms of corporate governance (publicly traded companies must have their finances audited, for example), ownership (banks used to be prevented from buying stock so that they would not avoid calling in bad debt), and how they do business (collusion between big tech to keep salaries down for example).
I had a friend when I was in college. Her older loser brother who lived in her mom’s basement called one day. He asked if he could stay with her. She knew him and didn’t want to have him staying with her and her boyfriend, taking their sofa, eating their food, and so on. She said “sorry but no”.
Apparently he called everyone he knew looking for a place to crash because their mom gave him an ultimatum. Nobody would take him.
After he tried everyone, he killed himself in that fucking basement. 😖
I use Consent-o-matic.
Meh. I lose power every 3 or 4 years on average. A UPS just doesn’t make sense for me. (When I lived in Virginia it was once a month on average, so for sure it made sense…)
I don’t think so. Even with just 7 inches or so you’re starting to have to be careful with angles to avoid hurting your partner.
It makes me wonder if their native language doesn’t have upper/lower letters. Chinese does not, and doesn’t really use spaces the same way we do.
People who don’t make a lot of dirty dishes? Running a dishwasher that is not full wastes water and energy. When I was single I would only run the dishwasher twice a week or so.
I’m a great believer that the workers should own companies, but the same logic applies. If it is too big to fail, then no private ownership should be permitted, either capital or worker.
In the video they answered right away?
If a human did this, they would at least get a ticket with a fine, and have the violation recorded on their license which would be revoked if it kept happening. With the computer controlled car, the cop called customer support and was like, “hey you might want to look into it or something.”
I guess we can’t expect the people hired to protect capital to act against capital, but it’s still a bit disturbing.
Here me out please.
Throughout most of the time humans existed we lived a migratory existence. It is only with the adoption of agriculture that staying in one place sense made sense.
Now here we are, with like 2% of our population involved with agriculture and still living that way.
We should all migrate like birds and stay in cooler climes during summer and warmer climes in the winter.
Obviously this is a huge change, but we can do it!
In Holland we have 99% humidity all winter with temperatures right around freezing and no matter how many layers you add the cold wet air seeps in and chills you to the bone.
Intimidating the ignorant is bad though.
When I was at the worker’s council in a company a couple decades ago, we insisted that the company update the contracts to remove illegal clauses. The companies’ position was that since they were illegal and therefore unenforceable that they did not matter. We argued that employees are less likely to know which particular laws impact which clause of their contracts than, say, full-time HR staff. And that not knowing they might assume that they are legal.
I’m happy to have moved to a country with worker councils in the law to protect workers in this way.
My son had one question wrong on his mathematics final exam. He noticed that the grader took the point off on a question that he had originally wrong but had corrected. The grader fixed it when my son pointed it out, so he got a perfect score!
I help my kids with their schoolwork. It’s pretty reasonable, and also offers plenty of opportunities for me to talk with them about deeper issues that schools don’t have time or expertise in teaching. However even the basics they offer are okay, without any parental kibitzing.
Full disclosure: I live in Holland.
Banking is completely different from voting from a security point of view. None of the parties in a bank transaction are anonymous, and there are numerous ways to retry or roll back a transaction. Computerized voting is more like crypto currency. 😝
