A lot of what makes Hereditary so good is the references to earlier films like Rosemary’s Baby. Horror is a genre that is in a constant dialogue with itself, and often horror films either subvert or adhere to what has come before.

Still Wakes The Deep was a fun Lovecraftian horror from this year. Unique setting on a North Sea oil rig with an authentic Scottish cast. Also didn’t overstay its welcome at roughly 4 hours length; I believe it’s on GamePass.
He’s a weirdo on mastodon too tbh. Very keen on blocking, no real interactions aside from self promotion.
Typically I don’t use a DE. I’ll go for dmenu + dwm usually if I only want a WM. I find the default bindings and behaviour for the tiling is the most ergonomic when comparing it to other WMs like i3.
When I do have to get a DE setup then I’ll use XFCE because I like how it stays out of the way and I find it easy to customise.
Hey wait a minute I resemble this strawman
Personally quite like reading things in other languages, just like a paragraph or so, and then checking my comprehension afterwards with an online translator. Only really partially works for Western European languages though!
On balance I reckon you should keep it that way. I somehow got dragged along to see Epic Movie when it first came out in cinemas and it is the worst film I’ve ever seen by a country mile.
Scary Movie 3 was my personal favourite. Not sure the Wayan Bros have a lot left in the tank (even if White Chicks was a guilty pleasure film).
Sounds like your aunt was projecting from what little you’ve said.
Is it not a timed exclusive on PS5? I don’t think I can buy it on my Series S at the moment
VR always seemed like a gimmick to me. I ended up with a wii instead of a PS3 or 360 as a teenager and it made me bitter and resolved to avoid anything like motion controls or gimmicks in future purchases.
Not that the wii was a bad console but I ended up playing the virtual console and gamecube backwards compatibility more than anything else.
I still disagree but can understand your perspective.
I think your definition of addiction here is very narrow and most people would think that if there are withdrawal symptoms like you describe then that would qualify as an addiction.
I guess “clinical addiction” might mean an addiction which requires clinical intervention but I could imagine a hoarder who is “addicted” to collecting junk who requires a psychiatrist to break their pattern of compulsive behaviour.
Yes but primarily via RSS feeds to keep up with news
Are we in a golden age for Sonic games? I started gaming the generation after the mega drive / genesis so missed the original run. When I was growing up I remember a lot of cringe releases like Shadow The Hedgehog where they seemed to be going for a Jak & Daxter 2 type angle and missing the mark. I did eventually go back and play the first two original games as an adult.
The past few years there seems to have been a run of solid releases for both 2D and 3D games that are getting good reviews and seemingly respectable sales. I think I’m going to pick up Frontiers or this one on the Series S after I’ve finished Metaphor: ReFantazio as a pallet cleanser to see what I’ve been missing.
Unciv is a great demake of Civilization 5
Yeah during lockdown I spent a lot of time visiting my sister’s village when she was living on the other side of the world in Australia
Ok I understand the comments here where people are saying they dislike sex scenes that don’t advance the plot. However there are certain movies where sex scenes are essential to the plot such as Boogie Nights. I can also think of examples like The Name Of The Rose where a sex scene is thematically improving the film (in my opinion).
Sex scenes in film/tv are hard to get right but I’d prefer if directors worked harder to capture/deploy them properly rather than a large facet of human experience disappearing during script interventions by producers and studios.
This was the one I was thinking of.
Also the pictures he posts of himself looking sad when he has watched sad movies -
Persona 3 OST for me
