Can I still have Stool, Sofa and Beanbag?
I think chairs and tables are insufficiently different - people would end up using one as a substitute for the other. I think a more interesting question would be what if you were required to magically eliminate all perfectly level planes (tables, chairs, beds), or eliminate all slanted planes (ramps, screws, lazy boys)
Chairs. You can sit on the ground or on a mat by a low table, as many people have done for centuries.
Yeah, agree. Tables can be used standing or while sitting in the floor. Chairs are nice, but without tables a lot of stuff would happen at floor level anyway.
Definitely easier to get by without chairs.
I’ll get rid of chairs. Ottomans, which are not chairs, would be arranged around the tables for some reason. My ottomans have a vertical panel for a foot rest. It’s definitely a foot rest and not a chair, though. Chairs were banned.
OP I don’t think “absolve” was the word you wanted there. “Abolish”, maybe?
No no, the chairs or tables will be absolved of duty, so like they’ll still be around, taking up space, we just won’t be allowed to ask anything useful of them anymore because they’re retired.
makes sense, objection withdrawn

You can use a chair as a table, but can’t comfortably sit on most tables. QED, fuck off tables.
You got that backwards. Tables are often more comfortable to sit on than chairs, but chairs make lousy tables.
A picnic bench is just a low, skinny table.
Chairs are just tables for butts.
Or is that a stool?
