I switched to Boost a few weeks ago. I’ve also been happy with it.

Good bye Sync. Been using Sync since the Reddit days :(

I haven’t tried Boost, but I swapped over to Summit and have been pleased with the experience. The thing I liked most about Sync was the amount of customization; Summit fills that space quite well.

Not all posts & comments load anymore, and mark read hasn’t worked reliably for a few weeks. At least the lemmy.world team is trying to fix stuff for Sync users in the backend, but since the app is abandoned, it’s only a matter of time before it stops working completely - the Lemmy API is still evolving.

I had it with some situations but I assumed the host went to crap because it has happened before as well and just waited until it went back to regular service

Boost is nice but I can’t deal with the lack of swipe gesture actions at this point in time. No other app has been a perfect substitute for Sync but after trying basically all of them I find Summit to be both the best right now but more importantly - the most promising for the future. Very active dev who is responsive and accommodating user requests.

I don’t plan to switch but sync now has significantly less features since most are starting to not work. Sadly sync will be dead soon unless he comes back and does a pretty significant update. It’s only going to be harder after that since people are dropping the insanely priced subscription which was meant to help maintain the app. He’s lost the trust of his subscribers since it looks like he just took the money and dipped.

With that said its not uncommon to see him disappear then push an update quietly and become more active again. Without a doubt he’s still watching what we are saying.

Did not know this and I paid like a chump 😂. But really I used it for many years before being forced to the reddit app which i ultimately deleted. So I felt like I owed him that much

Used Boost for the other site, and also for Lemmy. Idk if it’s just Samsung phones, but whether post content, especially videos or gifs, loaded was a crapshoot. There were entire instances that won’t load a single post, and had similar behavior for subs on the other site. Spoilers didn’t work, links and formatting got messed up frequently, it was just an ever-growing list of small things that slightly annoyed me individually, but became ridiculous all at once It got so bad that I switched to Sync. I prefer Boost’s UI, but unless they fix things in a way that works for Galaxy, it’s gonna be a hard pass for me

My problem with boost is it’s double column layout sucks for readability. It’s great for images, but text based posts are too cramped up.

I err to eternity over boost because of that.

+1. Been using Boost since Jeroba went through rough times. I’ve really enjoyed it, especially the handy feature that lets me filter all posts containing specific words.
