For this Friday Movie Night, first up is Peking Opera Blues (1986), a Hong Kong comedy-action-musical-spy kung-fu film from Green Snake (1993) director Tsui Hark. It concerns political intrigue during 1913, at the height of the Xinhai Revolution, revolving around a troupe of opera performers, some of them being men who dress like women, and vice versa… This has an extremely high Letterboxd rating, so let’s give it a whirl. The second film tonight is fantasy rom-com About Time (2013), from Richard Curtis, director of, uhh, Love Actually (2003). Ugh, this is such a normie pick, but it has great reviews everywhere, and is in approximately the 99.8th percentile for Letterboxd ratings. Okay, fine, we’ll watch a Hollywood studio romance fluff piece, just this once. Anyway, it’s about a guy who gains the ability to travel through time, and uses it to pursue his waifu, played by Rachel McAdams. Hilarity ensues!

We’ll start at 9PM EST on Hextube, right here: https://live.hexbear.net/c/movies

Be there, comrades!
