Capitalism doesn’t mind Fascism. But that doesn’t mean it is Fascism.

Fascist sentiments aren’t sprouting up all over the Western world for no reason, it’s a reaction to decades of grinding neoliberalism.

Well yes. Fascism is a populist reactionary subset of Authoritarianism.

But capitalism isn’t a political ideology. Which is why it doesn’t care if it’s being operated by a fascist government, a liberal government, or even a single party state masquerading as communist.

I agree that fascism is a reaction to bad times. But it’s not just neo liberalism. It showed up first as a reaction to economic bad times in a liberal monarchy. Italy and Germany were hardly neo liberal, the idea wasn’t even invented yet. And at the end of the day the very people who would run a Neo liberal economy end up being allies to a fascist state as long as they bend the knee.

It really is a reaction where the people who are hurting because of the bad economy are scammed by the very people profiting from their suffering. Neo Liberalism is just the latest in a long line of ideologies to cause the required economic environment.

Strongly hierarchical militaristic authoritarian control predates capitalism. Hell it predates the invention of money.

There’s a good chance that money was invented to help raise armies.

If anything, I’d say fascism is the basis for capitalism, not the other way round.

Might be the dumbest thing I’ve read today.

But well, I bite. Pls elaborate why an open market enables fascism.

Open market has nothing to do with capitalism. Both communism and socialism can have open markets, as well as feudalism and mercantilism.

To answer the underlying question, fascism is the combination of state and corporate power, according to the father of fascism.
