Why does this matter to you? Who cares if he was an atheist?
It doesn’t even matter what he was. There are evil or deranged people in every bigger group, so it’s highly irrational to project deeds of individuals onto the whole group.
I’m not blaming Christians if some school shooter or some hooligan happened to be Christian. So I’m not gonna do this here with Muslims or Atheists as well.
If we did that, we would find dirt about every single big group. That’s not helpful at all. It just causes more chaos and discord.

Who cares if he was an atheist? All kinds of terrible people are or have been atheists. Woody Allen is an atheist. Xi Jinping is an atheist. Kim Jong Un and his predecessors? Atheists.
Whether any, or even all of us are evil has zero bearing on the question of the existence of deities.
