He’s
gottaquit smokingThanks @[email protected]
He did.
Aw damn ;-; He’s one of my fave film directors around esp on Mulholland Drive (even though he’s my problematic fave but honestly nothing like other ones that have done worse things) Pretty sad that it’s led to this tbh.
I found that movie so weird that I stopped about 30 minutes in. I was like WTF is this lol. I loved Twin Peaks tho.
Tbf, a lot of David Lynch films are weird af but I think that’s what makes it so so so good, it adds so much character and it really does make it thought provoking as well. I keep needing to watch Twin Peaks. So so many people have told me how good it is. You should really watch the whole film! It’s so so good esp at the end of the film! it will send you on a wild ride!
I love watching weird films but it was just another level of weirdness. Might give it a try another time 😁 And do watch Twin Peaks! It’s very weird but in s great way.
Haha then you’d “love” Eraserhead
Pretty sure that dude smoked for like 76 years straight.
Came out of the womb and bummed a smoke off the doc.
I gotta say, I totally get where he’s coming from. I was a smoker for 15 years, including straight through art school, and I loved everything about it. It’s a ritual, and it was part of what helped me work creatively.
…Until I started waking up coughing in the morning.
It’s been about a decade since I last had a cigarette. My risks of lung cancer, COPD, and chronic emphysema are nearly back down to baseline levels. But even now cigarettes, cigars, and pipes smell amazing to me. If it wasn’t for the fact that they would absolutely kill me (and weren’t so goddamn expensive, thanks Obama), I’d start right up again. (OTOH, I try to run now, and that’s not really compatible with smoking.)
Wishing you the best of luck in your health journey.
Pipe smokers live, on average, longer than non smokers. May be socioeconomic, may be the relaxation.
Pipe smoke isn’t inhaled into the lungs.
I use an ecig for my nicotine addiction, and pipes for tobacco enjoyment. The occasional cigar as a guilty pleasure.
Anyhow, pipe smoking isn’t like the others. There is a learning curve.
Thank god he’s not retired - my poor heart couldn’t stand knowing there won’t be another season of Twin Peaks. I just wonder if he can create his magic remotely.
And I guess it’s very much in the nature of Twin Peaks that it will never have a satisfying ending. That’s part of what’s satisfying about it.
What? Everything I’ve ever heard from lynch and frost has been that season 4 isn’t likely, I think season 3 was an amazing ending
Maybe we’ve read different sources - to me it seems like season four is very much a possibility.
The Return did an amazing job wrapping things up until the last episode, when it tore it all open again. That scream. Is it future or is it past?
That said, I agree that it stands great as it does. The loose threads are what makes it all so special - you never know just how loose they actually are.
Sad to hear that. I don’t see much of this work, but I do love Twin Peaks tho!
I read in your other comment, that you didn’t finish Mulholland Drive.
If you get the chance, don’t sleep on Blue Velvet or Wild at Heart. These two were made just before Twin Peaks. They have a lot of the kind of mystery, mood and juxtaposition present in Twin Peaks. Their soundtracks were also by Angelo Balalamenti, you can hear how the cooperation with David Lynch led to the music in Twin Peaks.
Specially Blue Velvet, since Kyle also stars in it and it even shares a song with Twin Peaks.
Then fuckin’ watch all of Mulholland Drive
Thank you consequence dot net for telling us that David Lynch can no longer direct in person due to emphysema.
Holy shit, that’s dark lmao.
Fix your lungs or die. But seriously, that’s a bummer. Love his work, movies, music, etc., and it seems like he’s a genuinely good person and good to work with.
This sucks to hear. I’ve been a fan of his work for a long time now.
😫
The 78-year-old filmmaker…
Fine, let someone younger do the work.
