However, truck owners involved in the food deliveries, mostly Egyptian hauliers, are reluctant to let their vehicles be used inside Gaza for fear of them bombed or ransacked by starving Gazans. There is also a shortage of willing drivers after repeated incidents of aid trucks coming under fire, of which the WCK bombing has been the worst but far from an isolated incident.

The planned coordination centre, whenever it is finished, may not be sufficient to address this fundamental obstacle to delivering food, as long as much of Gaza is a free fire zone, aid workers argue.

    Started? Are they fucking joking?

What’s next, “Israel is risking genocide in Gaza?”

    So tired of this shit.

There is reprieve. It just involves us protesting right outside the white house relentlessly. We all must also write our representatives each day.

Lastly, I cannot stress this enough, military contractors and all other forms of lobbying need to be removed and made illegal like the bribery they are.

I don’t know if we’ll ever unravel why we can’t call genocide just that, and save the people clearly being annihilated. But I know we never will if we don’t try.

I don’t live in D.C., I couldn’t afford to move there just to protest, and I have responsibilities where I live, such as a family.

We all must also write our representatives each day.

My representative is Larry Buschon. He couldn’t give less of a fuck what any of his constituents think.

Lastly, I cannot stress this enough, military contractors and all other forms of lobbying need to be removed and made illegal like the bribery they are.

Cool, I’m sure congress will get right on that.

I guess people want me to do things that I either can’t do or wouldn’t be worth the time.

            I can’t speak for others.

For me: Because it is defeatist.

It’s fine to feel that way, but wet towelling calls to action… It’s clearly unhelpful.

Go to Larry’s office each day with a horde of people. If not, then nothing will change.

Make time to go and protest locally. If not, then nothing will change.

Simulate our living hell for them and pierce their padding of privilege. If not, then nothing will change.

History shows the only time anything changes for the masses is when we band together and make it the owning class’s problem. If not, nothing will change.

His local office is over 2 hours away by car. Maybe you have over four hours each day to go protest, but I don’t. Also, where do I get this horde of people?

If you never have time for these things, someone that does will make the decisions for you. That’s the harsh truth. If every MAGAt can make it to Jan 6, I think we can at least write our representatives. Or out aside a single day to go and protest. We’re all here all day on these socials, you could use that to organize like I try at [email protected]

You said protest every day. With a group of people. Now you’re saying a single day to go protest.

Also, the only social community for my state on Lemmy barely ever has any posts and I don’t think anyone there is from my town anyway. And I have no friends here. So how am I supposed to organize this?

As far as writing him, as I said- he doesn’t give a shit what his constituents think. He keeps getting re-elected because of the R after his name and this is Indiana.

I get that you want this to have an effect, but it won’t. Not every representative gives a shit or will ever give a shit. It accomplishes nothing in those cases.

Protesting does work. Remember the Civil Rights Movement? Did that look easy? Were demands instantly met? It takes time and effort, water cuts through rock with persistence, not force. I get you don’t want this to work, but history has shown it can and often times does. Go forth, or don’t. But don’t complain about those of us that do just because the affects are not immediate.

Protesting can work. That doesn’t mean it always works.

Protesting works when you do it at the right time in the right place with the right people.

There is no time when protesting at Larry Buschon’s Evansville office is the right place and, again, I don’t know anyone.

I’m not sure why even the last part is not an issue to you, but I would think that one person standing outside his office with a protest sign about Israel wouldn’t exactly start a major movement. I just looked up his office on Google. It isn’t even a prominent place. You’d miss it if you didn’t know it was there.

This isn’t marching over the bridge in Selma you’re talking about, this is a silly waste of time. I have been in many protest marches, but I’m not going to waste over four hours of my time just to get to a place almost no one recognizes alone with a protest sign. It will not do a thing about Israel. Not a single thing. It will not save one single Palestinian life. I might as well stand in front of a Menards.

The only way Biden will care about Gaza is if he believes it could cost him the election in November. All the people who say we must vote for Biden no matter what are undermining the only leverage we have to end this before hundreds of thousands of innocent people die before our eyes.
