The U.K. government on Monday announced it will ban disposable vapes, citing an “alarming rise” in the number of young people using them.

There will also be new restrictions on how vapes can be packaged and displayed, as well as the flavors they can come in.

Brightly colored e-cigarettes which are used once and thrown away have proliferated in the U.K. and other countries in recent years.

Pointing to the nicotine content that is typically present in many vapes, the U.K. government on Monday warned that withdrawal from the substance can sometimes cause “anxiety, trouble concentrating and headaches. While vaping can play a role in helping adult smokers to quit, children should never vape.”

It is illegal to sell vapes to consumer under the age of 18 in the U.K., but according to government figures, 9% of 11- to 15-year-olds use them. The number of children vaping has tripled over the last three years, it said.

Shops that sell vapes to children face higher spot fines.

I know a guy who got some kind of heavy metal poisoning and was legitimately crippled for a while as a result of obsessive levels of vaping. He was severely weak and sick, and in and out of the hospital with some pretty terrible symptoms, and last I heard he was still physically and mentally affected by it.

Honestly the existence of vaping as a thing marketed to young people is just a crystal-clear indication of how much the system DGAF what happens to human beings.

The overreaching Australian government has sort to ban them as well. It’s fucking hilarious as Australia is awash with illegally imported tobacco and every illicit drug known to mankind haha. Australian border protection is a fucking joke the government can never stop anything being illegally imported if it’s a product Australians will spend money on.

vaping was introduced by, spread by, and popularised among the youths by the acts of the government and the people behind the government, it is not enough to merely suggest that their acts now justify anything, they wish to ruin the youths and create a useless generation

Do you actually realise it’s only the disposable ones, that often have a lithium ion battery and could actually be made reusable by not that much more? Actually a worse environmental impact than normal smoking most likely.

The only reason these disposables took off so hard was because of the severe limitations on sales and shipping on places that support refillable vapes and flavored e liquids.

Personally I blame big tobacco lobbyists.

Ya, I ran out of nicotine right after the ban and hadn’t paid attention to the news to know the ban was coming. Luckily found some site and bought enough to last me like 5 years.
