This episode really established what to expect as a dynamic going forward. Yumiella will try to stay out of the way from the game protagonists, fail at doing so, and humor ensues.

One thing I am glad that they have done for this adaptation is they kept in a bunch of Yumiella’s internal dialog. Often in adaptations like this, the internal thought process is the first thing to get cut away. However, in this story, that is where a lot of the humor originates from as we see her thought processes and how they don’t line up with other peoples’ perceptions. An example from this episode is her swordfight in which she is thinking about ways to hold back while everybody else alternately thinks she is an amateur and then a monster.

Looking forward to seeing more of the cast get introduced in the coming weeks!

      No idea, but it’s adorkable.

I’m also surprised with the show, in a good way. I picked it up because I’m a sucker for villainess stories, but now I’m actually excited for the next episode.

    Fuck. I loved this episode.

Sending the warrior to the nursery after a fight with wooden swords, showing far more magic proficiency than the magic prodigy, and then showing to the prince that she could easily erase the city if she so desired. Take that!

Have they even considered that perhaps she was saying the truth? (No, they didn’t. They assumed.)

I hope that now the three stooges leave her in peace.

I really liked this episode too. I mentioned last week how the changes they made to the first episode really showed that the staff “get it” for this series. That continues this week. You can even see it in the ED visuals where they basically just have Yumiella stone-faced the whole way through, carrying out the motions, while Eleonora (yet to meet her) is super energetic and outgoing.

What a great episode! Funny and rewarding.

The 3 main guys are such jerks and deserved to be proverbially punched in the face.

I totally get the “heroine”'s reaction to our protagonist though. These characters often have some gut feeling of uneasiness towards villains.
