I think the carceral system is broken, and I think that imprisonment is an incomplete/inadequate way to address crime. I’m sure there are plenty of good discussions about alternatives are taking place, just not on fucking HN.
Yeah, our society favouring punishment over reparations is so sick and absurd and all we get to enjoy are those … bitter crumbs of schadenfreude …
Not that it will stop me cheering when bad things happen to bad (powerful) people but wouldn’t it be nice to live in a society that’d let us be magnanimous.
