And because of that we got a better president than the one we have currently. Did you know that historically high voter turnout precedes bad times.

The answer isn’t to increase the democrat voter turnout. It’s to decrease republican voter turnout. The fewer people vote the more the voters are composed only of high information voters and the more politicians have to talk to the public like we are actual fucking adults. That’s good for the public no matter which party wins.

We are basically guaranteed to have about a 50:50 mix of republican and democrat control over time. The question is do you want them to be shit-tier democrats and republicans or high quality democrats and republicans?

Very soon. If we change the absolute clown decision under the Carter administration to not reuse nuclear waste we can just use the nuclear waste we’ve already built up, never burn another hydrocarbon, and never install a single additional solar panel (cause why not), and power the US for 150 years with relatively little mining.

Energy is solved. But neither party wants it to be solved. They want a problem they can have political gainsmanship over. Whether it is the Rs wanting wars to support a petro-dollar as an excuse to give their friends in the defense world money, or the Ds wanting tax funded projects for their donors. An actual solution offers no party any advantage over the current problem.

So we need to shut people up who’s information we percieve will give us outcomes we don’t like? I guess the nazis gave that ago and if it worked for them I guess we should do the same. But if we have decided to live in a post-truth world of our own creation, how are we going to make an honest assessment of what true information is actually harmful. We could just be lying to ourselves about that too.

Here is a good rule of thumb. Never lie to yourself. Never hide from information. Anything else is just developing anti-intellectual habits.

It kind of reminds me of a quote from And Justice For All from Metallica. “Seeking no truth. Winning is all. Fighting so grim so true so real.”

When both sides frame what is true or false by what will help them win that that’s how you end up with a post truth world. Of course that can be easily corrected by lying to ourselves again and claiming that only one side has blame. There is nothing a lie to ourselves can’t fix.
