That is inaccurate. You can look up LCOE for all of these and Nuclear is right up there with Gas. Also, you can’t have 10% of your generation be nuclear with solar and wind making up the majority. You literally cannot produce that much electricity. Nuclear, being arguably the most efficient source of energy and the largest capacity, it makes sense for nuclear to be in place of our coal and gas plants with solar and wind supplements. But hey, that’s just what I studied for a living.

I guess I should have clarified. When you do a cost analysis of per MW generation over the lifetime of the plant, it gets significantly cheaper. Cheaper than solar, or wind. The only issue is the large upfront cost of billions of dollars, like I previously stated. The cost of solar and wind is cheaper up front, but on a large generation scale, is lacking. Nuclear is the only solution right now to the climate. There is no other large scale generation that can sustain demand as clean as nuclear.

I’m in the same boat as you. I was more understanding before I had a child. I thought, you can forget your phone, autopilot, all other excuses. But after having two, there’s no fucking way I’d ever forget them. They’re always on my mind and the first thing I think of whenever I’m doing anything. I check on my children while driving too

Edit: I understand how easy it is to get into autopilot, and having understood that I do everything I can to change my routine. We take different routes, we stop and do something on the way, etc. But I realize that I’m speaking from a place of privilege where I can do these things and not everyone can. I hate to bother you with another question, but what is the goal of changing the name servers I have with domain to another? Could I just use ClouDNS for everything? I wish I had taken more time before I bought the domain through Domain.com. It seems like everybody likes ClouDNS.

Is it relatively easy to switch domains? I just set up my old laptop as a home server and I registered with domain.com.

I don’t know if you saw my comment, but yes. ERCOT has to answer to the PUCT and Texas Congress. It’s a pain in the ass to get anything done and worse if they have to contract out, which is the case a lot of the time.

ERCOT has to answer to not only their BoD, but the PUCT, and the Texas Congress. Anything they want to do, has to be approved. But nobody wants to raise funds to expand infrastructure by raising taxes, or rates. Not to mention, their regulator, PUCT, refuses to do jack as far as winterization and grid expansion. Also, the board of PUCT is only appointed by the Governor. This means that appointments change with new Governors which highlights the needs for a new Governor in Texas. Its funny that the Co-ops outside of ERCOT hardly experience any issues. The regulation that goes on is almost nonexistent because of PUCT and Texan Congress.

It’s an actual nightmare to try get any design work done for them because of all of the meetings you have to have with PUCT and ERCOT. They are the worst to do contract work for and people hate working with them. T-Line design sucks for them and forget about Substation design.

It is an asinine system they have set up, and it seems they refuse to change. The growth of the market has been known for YEARS. This is not news. They’re just making it news to place blame. What a bunch of idiots.
