It would be in Iran’s interest to evict the United States from the gulf permanently; the punishment the Iranians must inflict should be severe enough that the US and Israel never again try to initiate an attack like this.

Thing is, can Iran understand this? In the past, their reaction against American aggression has been pretty tepid. That been said, the new Ayatollah has basically seen his family be decimated in a couple of weeks, so his response may be different this time around.

Supposedly it has Israel, but they haven’t offered to send any help. Seems like that relationship just goes one way.

That has been a long running problem for Canada. It has the raw crude, but not the refining capacity. If you’re just a resource extraction location, then you’re no better than a colony; that’s why Trump treats Canada the way he does.

At this point, Trump could just nuke Iran and both sides will cope about it being “a necessary measure to save lives from a ground invasion”. The US has no inhibitions left anymore.

Problem is, to defend their side of the strait, the US has to redeploy their defenses from places like Korea, Taiwan and Ukraine, which weakens their global position in these regions.

But yes, the US public couldn’t care less as long as it doesn’t affect them.

Many people here will accuse the United States of using Israeli tactics and of trying to pull a Gaza on Iran. That’s not true.

This time, they’re taking a page from the Russian playbook by targeting civilian infrastructure in an attempt to do collective punishment. We can see how much success these tactics have had in the past, and somehow are to believe that it will be different this time.

By that definition, any ship probably has some connection to the US/NATO, which makes their whole point about the Hormuz being open void.

Only way to ensure safe passage is for each trusted nation-state to clear each one of their ships individually in advance with Iran. And even then there’s always the possibility Iranians fire at it by mistake.

If they remigrate back to Italy, they’d be entitled to education and healthcare, which are the largest Italian expenditures, without contributing to the system.

It would be quite foolish yet no less unsurprising for the English to take the bait here. They’ve been cannon fodder for the US since the 80s.

This time, a draft won’t result in “protests”. If these people are to die anyway, they might as well die in their homeland than in a foreign sandbox.
