I waddled onto the beach and stole found a computer to use.

Note: I’m moderating a handful of communities in more of a caretaker role. If you want to take one on, send me a message and I’ll share more info :)
Yea it’s a bit redundant now
I’ve still kept mine up, along with the post explaining it, because I think they look nice in the sidebar. I haven’t added them to any new communities however
I’ve heard criticism of the desktop app before as well, maybe they’ll finally rework it?
I also saw a post about a portainer alternative, anyone know others?
Monitor (docs.monitor.mogh.tech) (from the other site)
DockGe from the other post
Looks like it’s popular, from the other post
Features are more limited, no environment variables yet I don’t think
Thanks for sharing, very exciting :)
I’ll link the other community as well, for those that might not know about it: [email protected]
As always, love your posts 😄
This is really cool, thank you for running it!
Going through it now to look at the results :)
edit: I like the improvements you made, such as the questions that were broken down to be more informative
Thank you 😊 I love seeing all the responses here
I believe feddit.de is moving to feddit.org actually, the original instance might have gone down fully now
I just learned about it the other day: https://lemmy.ca/comment/10102577
Oh I don’t mind it, I like the post :)
I was thinking that there might be a lot of Lemmy users working in such roles, without a place (that I know of) to share those stories
It’s actually a big enough problem for warnings about it:
Fair enough! Whichever is more convenient for you. I imagine it’s much easier to swap or upgrade with a framework laptop, so it’s not a big deal regardless
Would it be better to go 2 USB c + 1 USB A?
I’m not as familiar with how the framework laptops charge, but if it’s done over USB C then it might get annoying if you need to charge and connect to something at the same time
The German community on Lemmy is rebuilding at the moment as their main server feddit.de was abandoned by its admin. Now the communities are slowly transitioning over to feddit.org
Didn’t realize it was happening, is there a post somewhere about it that I can link people to?
Oh, we do have a !talesfromtechsupport
community (link). Looks like the mod is inactive and the community doesn’t have that many subscribers
Maybe we can try making a new one here on programming.dev
Me neither, I got curious and tried to find one
Turns out they all have “names”
Hang in there incidental 41
See more updates from the rescue center over in [email protected]
there’s this one but it doesn’t seem to have any recent posts [email protected]
Might be nice to have a more generic one if we make a new one. Maybe c/LostUsers
or something to keep it open to lemmy/kbin/piefed/sublinks/mastodon etc
I think I saw in another comment about it the question choice, and I agree it was a good call
I was looking forward to it!
I didn’t remember any other instances off the top of my head, but I checked the post and saw that @[email protected] left a comment about doing it on aussie.zone
Maybe around November, we can check in again to see if other instances want to help brainstorm questions? That would give instances a chance to share ideas and use similar questions, and ultimately each instance is free to run the census as they see fit
