This is great news.
However highlighting the “enormous amount of effort” came off as immflamatory as a headline. Now to prove to them that we appreciate the effort they put into this.

I too grew up in the in that era. But grew up in the Detroit area where nearly everybody knew something about cars due to how many people worked in the auto industry and how the knowledge was prevelant and shared amongst friends and peers. Auto shops were still a thing, but largely used for jobs nobody wanted to do, didn’t have access to the tools, or didn’t have the time to invest
Gotta love jobs that treat their staff like children.
I had an ex tell me once that I wore too much brown and dull greens.
Since then I’ve been aware of my color choices and have a lot of “loud” colors in my wardrobe. I will even intentionally wear clashing colors and have made it a style choice.
I still have browns and dull greens, but I have fun with them now.
All that said, I’ll wear something until it starts wearing out then that’ll be relegated to chore/diy project clothes.
Intentionally wear the same one next time and if she says something you can tell her it’s your lucky auction shirt.
I’m glad my employer said, “you’ve been working hard. I comped you a day so you can rest and recover.”, the last time I wasnt feeling well (allergies got the best of me and I was a mess). Even though I’ve accrued nearly 2-weeks of sick time at this point.
I’m fortunate that I don’t work for a shitty company anymore.
Sealion infestations are problematic. Be sure to call your local exterminator promptly whenever you encounter one.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to uninstall OneDrive & Teams from my work computer thanks to a Windows update reinstalling them. My IT director is getting frustrated by it too because he has to keep updating GP and other tools to prevent them from showing up and users inadvertently putting shit into the MS Cloud accidentally because OneDrive likes to insert itself the default documents folder.
I also prefer my start bar to be on the left hand side of my left-most monitor in vertical orientation (I run a tri-montior setup in a tie fighter configuration).
As already stated, the new right-click menu is also ass, and I keep having to fix it to get the actual fucking options I want/need without having to click a button to “show more options” from a menu that loads noticeably slower, or shift-right-click to get the intended menu.
There’s a ton of other little annoyances, like removing or relocating configuration flows with inferior tools that don’t support everything that used to be configurable. AI search in my start bar (so glad for PowerToys Run).
Windows 11 has done a great job at removing user control over their OS by forcing changes (often inferior to the old version/way) and forcing optional software installs (just wait til Recall is sitting on everybody’s machine).
Things that are nice: A better networking stack, blue tooth management, and a powerful built-in windows layout manager (Snap Layouts)
There’s a ton of work in green energy and water management.
When Harris wins, there will be even more federal funding being dumped into these sectors. However a ton of that work is either going to be labor intensive or require a specific education (or both).
Also, the software engineering field isn’t going to be replaced by AI any time soon (if ever). What will happen is that AI will become a tool of skilled engineers to increase their output efficiency, consistency, and quality.
What?

Not on lemmy?
Because it’s a Mbin UI customization.
Off-topic comment.
I appreciate the misuse of isle instead of aisle. The mental imagery of navigating around stores compromised of isles makes me want to go shopping so I can go on an island hopping adventure looking for booty to haul back to my kingdom.
I have mixed. The impulse control sucks as well as forgetting comments. I’ve come up with some mechanisms to help me remeber from notes, making a fist and holding up a finger for each thing I want to say, etc. Sometimes my comments/questions are answered if I wait too. I sometimes still forget. However, the urge to grip my hands together and claw at the skin on my hands is very real if I resist the impulse to jump in or rush the person to their point.
Great news is that I’m using this bullshit to switch over all my PCs to Linux.
