I’ve often dreamed of going fully analog - no internet, no mobile phone, etc. But then I realized that if anyone ever found out or noticed this, I’d instantly be suspected of being a criminal on the run.

I have gone through so many changes in beliefs over the course of my life - which makes sense, because life is just one big experiment after another. Turning my back on the religion that I grew up with has played a huge role in my journey of self-discovery. Since then, I’ve done my best to try to figure out what resonates with me, what gives me comfort and what actually serves me in a positive way. I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been a painful struggle at times, but the rewards are priceless.

Is that chart hosted anywhere else?

From what I understand, traffic collisions dramatically increase whenever there’s a time change. Any benefit that we ever got from having Daylight Savings Time died out around 70 years ago, so what’s the point in continuing something that no longer benefits us and is proven to be a safety issue to the general population? That we’re even debating this in 2026 really confuses me.

My guess is that this has more to do with the slew of recent bans on social media for youngsters. Think of all that lost ad revenue!

In that case, it’s probably a good idea to get mods involved or create a new account then, I suppose.

If Lemmy is a service you’ve enjoyed and you aren’t trying to hurt anyone, why let random jerks ruin it for you and chase you off? Just block them and forget they ever existed. This is the way.

You can easily make it so that you never see any downvotes via the Lemmy settings. Or, you can move to a Lemmy instance that doesn’t allow downvoting.

There are a lot of reasons for this. Some people never learned how to manage their emotions or how to disagree in a mature manner. A lot of people feel frustrated, angry and powerless in their everyday lives, so being nasty to others online provides a weird sort of catharsis for them. Others simply never acquired the necessary social skills to successfully function in society to any significant degree. Still others are narcissists who derive feelings of power from making others feel small. The list goes on and on.

Requested (and received) all of my data last week, then promptly cancelled my account. I know I’m going to miss out on all of the communities that still decide to stay on Discord - but that says far more about THEM than it does about ME.

I’m not really sure, either. Do some Lemmy clients curate what’s in your feed based upon votes? If that’s the case, I can see people trying to manipulate that…

No, really the best example I can give is the one I’ve already made about the racist neighbor. If there isn’t a term for this sort of behavior, there needs to be one.

Both of those terms are accurate to what I’m describing. It’s like racist neighbors finding everything wrong with the upkeep of your house or how much noise your kids are making just to cover up the fact that they don’t want to live next to someone of color.
