  • I’ve worked somewhere that they laid of some of the best employees in the department, simply because they were higher seniority and “made too much money” and had to cut costs. There were plenty of better candidates to let go, if the focus had been productivity, but it wasn’t. They just wanted a short-term solution to balance the books.

So a month and so later, I’m still searching and I just feel bitter and jaded, I’m not getting calls back.

The past few months I have put in some applications for jobs I am qualified or slightly over-qualified for, and same thing - 0 calls back. Best I’ve had is a rare rejection email.

I know what you are talking about, but I try not to think about it too much. First of all, you have no way of knowing for sure that they are being passive aggressive, or just trying to be polite but coming off awkwardly. I hate when people make assumptions on how I must be feeling, so I try not to make assumptions about them. Maybe they got some bad news that day, are struggling with something I’m unaware of, etc.

If I do detect some sort of aggression, I just try to complete my part of the transaction as quickly as possible and be on my way. Maybe they are irritated, but I don’t need to hang around to find out, and digging into it isn’t going to help either of us.

  • Depends on a few things. If someone took the time to reply to my comment or post, they get an upvote as long as they’re not being a jerk, even if they disagree with me.

If it’s a post or comment in a post in a smaller community I upvote to show appreciation for their participation.

Funny / clever comments get an upvote.

I only downvote if they’re being a jerk. Disagreement does not warrant a downvote from me, if they are being civil about it.

As for tipping culture being built in to Lemmy, or in general, hell no - downvote for even mentioning that. /s

  • I completed the Steam 100% achievements for Dark Souls 2 and 3 so decided it was time to try Dark Souls Remastered. So far I think I’m spoiled by the other two games because DSR feels so tedious without bonfire warp. I’m trying to keep my first playthrough mostly blind, but this game does not really seem designed to make that possible. Luckily spoiled the part about going to Tomb of Giants too early and having to backtrack, but I did wander far into Catacombs right after the Gargoyles fight. It’s becoming more enjoyable as I level up and have switched main weapon to Great Scythe, though. Hoping I warm up to it more like I did with DS2 after the initial difficulty.

I’ve also been playing Fae Tactics. It’s surprisingly unique and satisfying with some combo mechanics and customizability. Definitely worth checking out if you like tactics style games.
