This is a good time to note basic financial literacy in the face of that quote and some surrounding issues.

One issue brought up in the article: as interest rates go up, loans become more expensive BUT savings become more powerful. For those who can afford savings, move your savings out of traditional banks (who only offer 0.1% interest rates), and move them into High Yield Savings (4%+), Money Market Accounts, Money Market Funds (5%+), or US Treasuries (5.5% State-tax free). These are nearly guaranteed returns (MMFs have only lost money twice in the past century and only for a few days worst case. US Treasuries have always returned their money, Savings Accounts have FDIC insurance).

The reason why JPMorgan is making more money is because too many consumers are financially illiterate and failed to move their money to better locations.

Investment Banking is a weird one. Asset prices have elevated, but profits don’t seem to have really gone up. And now we’re reaching a point where companies (ex: Starbucks) are forced to lower prices because too few people were coming in. So profits seem to be on the decline across large swaths of the economy.

Its weird: declining profits, investments into fucking bullshit (see AI), but heightening valuations? A bubble’s afoot IMO. I don’t know what will trigger a collapse but I don’t think the prices in the stock market are fully real or realized. But on paper, it looks good.

Inflation was never going to come down until people ran out of money. Basic economics unfortunately. When people are tight on money and cut down on spending, demand drops. And with demand dropping inflation goes down.

All economic issues hurt the poor the most. Inflation? Bad for the poor. Deflation? Sounds good until you remember that deflation leads to jobloss which is overwhelmingly bad for the poor. Etc. etc.

Trump is doubling down upon how he wants his administration to be run. Not trying to build a coalition anymore. Therein lies the weakness, Trump’s base is going to be smaller than ever before.

There’s so much gold here. This is an incomprehensively bad pick for Trump team with regards to the Election, even if JD Vance and Trump are likely aligned to do horrible things together if they actually get the win.

But first things first. Reconsolidate Democrats into some banner is priority #1.

This is the wind we needed. JD Vance confirms that Trump’s gonna cut off Ukrainian aid and a lot of other important issues. This is a huge mistake for Trump. Trump needed someone (like Pence) who could be seen as a kinder gentler kind of conservative. Not a firebrand like JD Vance.

Real life doesn’t matter. Feelings and emotions do. We need to seriously think about messaging that works, and its not necessarily the truth.

If we go this route, the best chance we have is to discuss the kid’s T-Shirt. “Demolition Ranch” is a well known right-wing pro-gun Youtube Channel.

Push that. We need arguments that win, not arguments that are true. (And this one: Demolition Ranch and AR15s is one that is both true and one I feel like we could win).

Kid was a Republican from a rural area of the country (that is often Republican). Kid was also wearing pro-gun T-shirt and also wielding AR-15.

There’s also $15 to a progressive (aka: left) cause in this kid’s name. So its not all right-wing stuff. But the myth of “kind” rural people who are responsible with their AR-15 long-range rifles is clearly going to be demolished by this turn of events. (In case Uvalde Texas didn’t prove that yet…)

Russians played the Black Lives Matter vs Blue Lives Matter and tried to make both sides distrust. It’s not just our base instincts at play here, but also foreign interference from our enemies at play.
