NYPL has around 10 million books and an additional 10 million manuscripts in its collection. Over 54 million total articles for lending.

Not the largest by far, but still mind boggling in size.

To torrent and ingest something of that size is crazy.

SM fiber is dirt cheap, they don’t need to wrap it in kevlar like you’d find in data centers ironically enough, it’s just a strand or two of thinly jacketed single mode fiber.

Only has to survive the one flight, be light enough and long enough.

The Product Manager made the mistake of having the keyword be overtly banned by the SWEs.

What was intended was an algorithmic change to hide the content entirely and divert to “acceptable” topics while obfuscating the ban.
