True. There’s some good advice in this thread for features people might not be familiar with.
I think it would just be cool to have regional specific communities and a shared culture. For example, one thing about Reddit was that there was subreddits for some local neighborhoods and such. I was able to help a couple move in return for a bunch stuff for my new apartment through that, and get advice on where I was moving to, etc. Just cool local things like that would be nice to have on here, but it would probably require a bigger population.
I’m not but I’m more pissed at Kamala for not being against a genocide than I am for single-issue voters, when that single issue is genocide. And being a genocide apologist is more silly imo
I wouldn’t mind the some more regional US instances, like midwest.social,.but for socal or norcal or the west coast in general, northeast, south, etc.
That might be why the candidates are running, but it’s not why people are voting for them. You haven’t seemed to have applied any empathy or gone into the mind of a third party voter at all, especially in this election, which is a different situation because of the ongoing genocide.
I love how everyone is blaming the voters for agonizing over this decision and not Harris for supporting a genocide.
You guys are happy to do it when you’re not the limb.
Eh, not always. We’re getting a lot of white women voters who previously voted for Trump thanks to abortion, for example. I wouldn’t judge voters for voting for what they care about. The leaders should owe the voters, not the other way around.
Or the app they use maybe didn’t implement it yet.
Lemmy better than Reddit
The point is to scare one of the main candidates to not support a genocide, so doing it silently would be against that. Tbh, it’s also the same reason I think a lot of them are bluffing and will end up voting for one of the main two instead.
While true, it’s good to have some hope now and then, too. We don’t want people getting too depressed, either.
I’m guessing you haven’t noticed the suppression of protests and complete ignoring of their demands up until now? Talk about divorced from reality.
I do, but the US and Western leadership of the world hasn’t exactly been roses, either. They’ve destabilized a country in essentially every region and continent except Australia and Antarctica. That’s why so much of the global south is trying to start another team. Not sure if it will work, but I can’t blame them for trying.
Not so much Russia, as the rest of the world south, like Brazil, South Africa, or China. It’s about 50% of the world population in BRICS now. But it’s so varied, not sure if they’ll be able to figure something out.
It’ll be the same under both, just Trump might try to use the military instead of just cops and SWAT to fight the protestors. Either way, we have to fight against a militarized police state determined to aid a Nazi ethnostate complete a genocide.
The way these people salivate over Trump hurting people who vote for Stein, I think they’re all bloodthirsty enough to want genocide. But keeping fighting the good fight. Just know that if Harris wins, we’ll keep having to pressure her after the election just as if she was Trump, and probably without the help of the rest of these liberals as they go back to brunch and wanting to ignore politics.
EDIT: I’m not voting for Stein myself but I see why people are, and I think their existence is overall good, because it keeps you all and the people in power from getting too comfortable with the fact that we’re doing a genocide.
You guys are fighting the good fight!
