I really like the idea of randomly elected representatives. Sure, they will try to better their situation for afterwards but with enough corruption control (which is probably easier to implement), this will only ensure that they support their kind of workers a bit more than the rest.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's an example of something that usually goes unnoticed when done well but very noticeable when done poorly or not done at all?
31·11 days agoinfrastructure in general - even beyond IT. No one sits at home thinking: The sewer system is great! How reliably my shit vanishes from my toilet! Until it doesn’t.

Jokes aside: they are mostly dead so pretty safe no one takes anything from them. One still lives but doesn’t use anything but the phone. Once shouted at a poor lady calling her because she thought it’d be a scam ^^ pretty safe but you can never be safe enough of course

No. While there are many opinions by no means are all really intellegent once binary. See Hanna Arendt “The banality of evil” or Friedrich Nietzsche “Beyond good and evil” (result is debatable but smart mad)

3·1 month agoFair. I was unsure what’s prefered as linking an outsourced image doesn’t take instance space. I also expected it to be viewable like other images. I am pretty new to lemmy.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Did anyone else not even know who Charlie Kirk was!?
2·1 month agoI still don’t know who he was. Just that many people were deeply unhappy with his existence and that he was perceived as far right. I also don’t care.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•EU prepares to give US direct access to police and immigration databases
34·2 months agoSpecifics matter. I would be fine with an endpoint that given the passport/id card allows to do a basic check for any severe offenses - as often performed for childcare jobs, too.
Anything beyond that sounds bad.

While they do lack screen share, it is in active development. See https://github.com/revoltchat/backend/issues/313 Last work on that issue happened 4 days ago. I am not a dev of revolt.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)
2·2 months agoI disagree. I don’t think people started misusing feminism because they didn’t know what it means.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)
72·2 months agoFeminism as often defined:
the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power, and opportunities as men and be treated in the same way, or the set of activities intended to achieve this state. Is something I agree with support.
I wouldn’t call myself a feminist because I think the word is basically broken. Too many people use it in a different way than this definition. Too many people think that if you are a feminist you have to agree with other things or you are not a feminist. I would describe myself as a humanist; I think.

At least you don’t have people who do politics as a job and no one is incentivised to constantly increase pay for them.
