What does menu do? Also I think I hate function smack dab in the middle of the space bar.

I’d guess that major UI revisions are a big reason for average users. People don’t like having to relearn how to do something or find a setting. If M$ implemented a legacy UI setting that by and large mimicked the interface and controls in W10 they’d clear a major hurdle preventing less technologically inclined users from upgrading.
Nearly every niche community I’ve joined has essentially died due to not having the critical mass of users to support that community. Hell, even look at the large states like California or Texas: they’re communities with only a few hundred active users and maybe a couple thousand joined. Feels like the lemmy is mostly us politics, star trek, Germans, and memes.
The hole is the anus just around the corner.
It is also just one man. No parents, siblings, children, spouses like the Bushs or Clintons. No one is getting all uppity about politicians like Glitch McConnell having decades in the senate.
And the rich fatcat isn’t a cat.
It was primarily settled as a farming community at the confluence of two rivers to support nearby gold mines. Prior to that native Americans had a fair amount of canal works to provide irrigation to agriculture in the region. At the time it would have been seen as good fertile land, free from rocks and boulders that was beyond the frost line prime for agriculture if they brought fresh water from the nearby rivers.
Well, if Biden/Harris let him win in ‘20 then he wouldn’t have had to campaign in’ 24 and thus wouldn’t have been in an open field vulnerable to nutjobs taking potshots at him.
All the cats in the domestic cat branch of felid tree have slit shaped eyes. Domestic cats, wildcats, sand cats, black footed cats, and jungle cats all share this trait. They are all small cat species.
Pallas cats belong to the leopard cat branch, and share similar eyes with the larger cats despite their other physical characteristics. It is interesting that they’ve kept the round eyes, because small cats tend to hunt via stealth during low light periods such as dawn/dusk where slit shaped eyes are an advantage.
This is a trait a nearly universal eye shape in small cat species. Even those in the leopard cat branch (rusty spotted cat, flat headed cat) and other branches related to other large cats (pampas cat in the ocelot branch, marbled cat in the bay cat branch, bobcats in the lynx branch, serval in the caracal branch, etc).
From my experience, most of those websites that want a specific browser require edge these days. Some streaming sites will only give FHD on edge, and HD streams on other browsers if at all (looking at you Vudu).
Trump looks like he’s filling his diaper, and JD looks like he got a whiff of it.
If they’re still working full time, then it isn’t retirement. Retirement is an economic situation, not an age.
It’s not that surprising when you look at the numbers. Average retirement savings accounts for those on their 60s is around 600k, but median is around 200k. Meaning some people are doing really well, but most won’t have much. Average retirement age is low 60s, and average lifespan for a60 year old is about 20 years. A 4% withdrawal for the average retirement account and roughly 2k per month SS check is about 50k per year before taxes. Not great but you can survive on that, but then look at the median and this drops to a bit over 30k. That would be tough, especially if you don’t own your home or have major expenses like Healthcare.
Unfortunate for the passengers that they couldn’t arrest him in Dallas, or wait for the return flight to Houston and pick him up after.
Looks interesting. Might give the demo a go on steam, and wait for it to leave early access if I enjoy it.
It really feels like they developed a revenue stream prior to developing a product. All we’ve heard is some “Ai features” would be a subscription service, but their software has been preety universally mid at best, and AI is starting to see some backlash. We are seeing companies try to cram AI into everything even when it has no purpose being there. I get the feeling that companies are starting to catch onto this AI investments have become ridiculously expensive and have provided nearly zero additional value to their products and services.
One thing to note is pac money is less efficient than campaign money. Campaigns get the lowest rate for advertisements while pacs pay market rate. Super pacs technically can’t coordinate with campaigns so there isn’t a unified message, however the FEC is pretty toothless so any coordination would likely have to be very blatant for action to be taken. Their advertisements can also be overly biased by their ultra wealthy donors, ie something that musk cares about a lot may not have significant sway on the public which can cause said ad to be wasted.
Exactly. SS is too popular. There will be some sort of reform/funding, but congress will wait to the least minute to fix a problem. See any sort of continuing resolution government funding bill or the last time SS had problems back in the 80s. The '83 reform only occurred a mere months prior to insolvency. The fact that SS is still years/decades from major problems means it’s someone else’s problem to our elected representatives.
The newest revision of the prius has an option for rooftop solar. The break even point is relatively long, in the 5-8 year time frame iirc. The energy generation isn’t massive; at 185w it won’t substantially extend the range something like 5 miles per day.
Somehow I don’t believe their numbers. Average $30/hr and $23/hr after expenses. IRS milage is $0.67/mi. Are they really saying über drivers are only driving about 10 miles every hour, or are they just offloading that working expense onto drivers and only accounting for the ~$3 per gallon fuel consumption?
Powertoys and fancyzones in particular has been amazing with the proliferation of large monitors. Saves so much time and effort to configure windows. Don’t understand why it is an optional utility and not built into the OS.
