That’s wild and seems like a lot of wasted time, effort, and money. If it is really that serious put the onus on the ISPs in their jurisdiction to block it.

That’s fair, I was so struck by the absurdity of the amount 😅.
I would just ignore this as well. If some foreign government that I have zero ties or interests with sent me fines, they’d go in the trash/spam filter. They have zero ability to enforce them. Wasn’t it Russia and Google where Russia claimed Google had to pay some absurd multi-trillion dollar fine that exceeds all of the world currency? Kick rocks.
That’s the one strength the US has ever had, immigration. So many inventions and industries exist because of immigrants. Most times it was in the face of rampant descrimination, segregation, violence, and attempts to shut them down or take it from them. It was the only part of the civic religion they indoctrinated us with as children that wasn’t complete bullshit.
16 and already a serial rapist, now murderer. Wtf?
Off topic: why are there two useless paragraphs at the end of the article repeating what the previous paragraphs said, almost identically.
That’s goofy as hell that the emergency number isn’t localized. I think the idea that pressing a physical button 5 times quickly is faster than having to look at the phone and select options. Idk, though, I don’t use it.
I see. I think the wording threw me off a bit.
I’ve always expected anywhere targeting tourists to be expensive relative to the local economy. That is an absurd price for bottled water, though. My rule of thumb is to never take anything from the minibar. There’s usually a shop within a block or two you get the same thing from at a much more reasonable rate.
I’m a bit confused with the section about “fees.” Are there casinos in the world you get to stay at, eat, and have them watch your kids for free?
Bixby was not llm based, originally, and sometimes updates will rewrite a user’s custom settings. For instance, I had a galaxy on which I made pushing the power button three times turn on the flashlight. An update occurred that overrode that setting by deleting it and turned on five presses to call 911. I ended up accidently calling 911 at 3am (accompanied by a blasting alarm sound) trying not to wake someone by turning on the light.
Edit: I misread your comment, apologies.
Hell, the US is all they talk about here on lemmy. I’m not sure they don’t want to join either.
That shit is stupid and dangerous. Also, nothing that jackass said made any sense. If this wasn’t about sexual harassing women or shitting on women’s sports, then why chose the WNBA? Even if that statement is sincere, how could you not be aware that this would cause individuals who do hold those views to participate? Fuck crypto clowns.
There are grid attacks all the time, though many aren’t effective because intelligence is apparently not a marker of the “master race.” It’s in their handbook, “Siege,” a collection of ramblings by a neo nazi too shitty for “mainstream” neo Nazis. This is also why there has been an increase in “lone wolf” attacks over the last 10-15 years due to a republication and digital dissemination. Ultimately, they’re accelerationists, not too dissimilar to Manson, who believe they can start a race war (or at least get away with murdering POC) by turning the lights out.
Maybe we should be more like the luddites, starting with data centers.
That dude looks like the villain from an 80’s buddy cop film.
That ad campaign was not about Gaza, it didn’t even resemble anything close to bodybags. It looked like messy artists in a studio. That whole bit was much ado about nothing.
Was it promptly followed by an Israeli bombing?
That is interesting. I bet it was a legitimate attack, but the government’s attempt to cover up their embarrassment (particularly the fleeing “guard”) has muddied the water, as any cover-up will do. I must have missed that one at the time.
This isn’t discussed enough, likely because it doesn’t have the shock and awe that war does, similar to how the relatively small amount of violent crime hits the news while all the vehicular deaths are mostly glossed over. They rarely actually have any effect on the rulers, yet they devastate the populace. Proponents say dumb shit like, “It will cause the people to rebel!” No, it won’t. When you and your children are sick and literally starving, it is difficult to organize resistance, not only physically but also mentally as your cognitive functions suffer as well. That’s also assuming that there is actually a fundamental issue with the government. Many times, sanctions are a cudgel used by western bullies against countries that won’t play ball with extractive economics or other harmful policies. Sometimes, the pain caused to the population is the point because they had the gall to elect leaders the bullies don’t like.
If they are not capable of automatic or burst fire, they are not, in fact, assault weapons. That’s what the qualifier “select fire” means.
