Insider trading is actually legal for congress though. You’re point is valid for systemic issues but this specific one boils down to the individuals involved. There is no precedent for this, no one can really say the judge did anything improper. It would likely be a boon for the governor in a blue state and who knows the DA ambitions.

I’m mostly making counterpoints than a prediction though. I still don’t think anything major will happen.

It’s a half baked idea of mine. I’m not actually in favor of a third party presidental candidate. Just Bernie starting one as a power play. Forcing the Democrats to embrace class based economic messaging and ideology as the cornerstone of the party. Bernie is 83, it’s best for him to leverage his celebrity and cross over appeal to influence change and elevate the profiles of the next generation of like minded candidates.

The third party would be an, ideally, toothless way to enable that change by endorsing a candidate in the dem primary. And have a long, public and transparent process for that endorsement.

It feels so fucking obvious to me and it has for the 20 years I’ve been voting, I fucking voted for dennis kucinich lol. There’s a reason Bernie was able to cut through the noise. He had a blunt and obvious, class based, economic ideology. That’s where he planted his flag.

The ‘third way’ Democrat machinery seems to plant it’s flag on reactionary culture war issues. Even if that’s only the perception, not reality, they always take the bait.

You’re kind of missing the point. You’re correct on principle but the issue is how to actually regulate it and create laws around it. Im totally in favor of media campaigns with that point, it is a north star. Thats what they actually do in California. Still, someone can be .02 BAC and be be fine to drive. I’m sure there’s some alcoholics that can be over .08 and pass a coordination test, due to their tolerance. The .08 is the law for a good reason though.

The only way to do that for thc would be a blood test, to the best of my knowledge. I don’t think that’s practical. The answer is definitely NOT police discretion though.

I don’t know for sure but it must be state laws. I believe Georgia has has laws against it I know California does. It really creates so much needless nonsense and it would require the US congress to fix but the GOP has made that entire branch of government, practically, non-functional.
