Mainly my music. I’ve long thought about a dumb phone to avoid gps tracking everywhere as well as the spyware built in and the needless looking at it all the time. But music and podcasts need to come with me wherever I go. So I’d be carrying something akin to a smart phone around anyway. Doesn’t really side step the problem effectively.

I work in the lighting department! It’s pretty fun work. It’s a little wild and I don’t think it’s for everyone, but I’ve had a lot of way harder jobs that didn’t pay 10% of what I get paid now. The downsides are the incredibly long days, the strange way it works with getting hired; you basically get hired day by day by whomever you made relationships with. Like I’ve never had to “network” before but if you’re competent, pleasant, and willing to work hard, the networking mostly does itself. It’s definitely interesting work. Sometimes I’m in some really swanky private apartment of some really famous person, the next I’m lighting naked models as they writhe around in a bathtub, the next I could be on the street in the rain handling disgusting cables sitting in NYC gutter water, the next I’m working 22hrs in the park on a 100 degree day. It’s wild, but it works for me. I couldn’t go to the same place with the same people everyday. Whenever I did that I was never happy, but I’m pretty content with the amount of variety this work brings

As someone who works in film, I don’t understand how people would be down with that. Our days are stupid long and exhausting. Everyone usually just wants to get home by the time we finally finish

What in the world kind of thinking is this? Yeah, there’s a war going on and Russia is targeting civilian centers and are clearly the invading aggressor, but that is not on the same level as the full blown genocide happening in Gaza/West Bank. The fact that they could easily get into Ukraine and deliver food…means they don’t have to. What.

There is an actual famine happening in Gaza. Starvation is being used as a weapon of war and attrition against the entire civilian population. There are only upsides to them trying this: either aid gets through and some people survive a little longer, or it doesn’t, and it proves to the entire world—that happens to be sitting on their hands over the genocide—that this is real and needs way more attention and pressure. What don’t you understand about that?

That’s not true necessarily. Of course they are highlighting the cruelty of the blockade, but I’m sure they’d be very happy to get in and see what’s happening—as well as distribute some food
