He’s showing he’s trying to be a real threat. Now they’re sending in the military to scare Venezuela into a good deal for resources or else.
It won’t work. Internally, Congress is already calling out the illegality of attacking the boats. Congress won’t allow a war and has already figured this out enough to tell the military to not follow illegal orders. It’s still a sticky situation, but Venezuela’s best move is to warn people and wait it out.

When he pardons Maxwell he hopes it won’t be a big deal because “he pardons everybody”.

When I was a kid, I got a Japanese N64 imported to the US. I tried to put a US cartridge in but it didn’t fit. My friend and I cut out the plastic inside where the cartridges go that was physically blocking and it worked.
Companies sold some kind of extension to get around this but we didn’t want to wait.

That’s nuts, bro!

This is how I feel as well. A new PC or even a new console was a gigantic leap forward in both visuals and gameplay. We’ve had a couple decades of diminishing returns.
I think the next big leap will be something along the lines of AI building out the stories, missions and dialogs “on the fly” creating incredible amounts of immersion where no two playthroughs have to be the same.

It’s already out of control. This is self defense.

Any alternatives? Lately I just send links to ChatGPT and ask for detailed summaries

That was an interesting substack article. I’m not super deep into the AI stuff and never heard of Gary Marcus. I agree that they went to scaling LLMs first because 1 - it’s easier to scale vs tie in new ways of doing things and 2 - companies like Nvidia were in line to make a ton of money as crypto mining started to fall out of favor and real-time ray tracing wasn’t giving them as big of advantage as they hoped.
They are still making a ton of dough!

I do find it strange I only found one mention of Taliban here: https://www.state.gov/foreign-terrorist-organizations/
Designated in 2010. Probably because exactly what you said. The historical mess.

Aren’t they recognized as a terrorist group vs a government? I’m guessing legitimacy is the main issue here.

It doesn’t matter. The points are made up. I joined a big one (lemmy.world) hoping it will be less likely to disappear so I don’t have to make another account again. GG!
I was the kid my friends’ dads would call to fix the PC (because SOMEHOW - “A hacker put a virus on there”), before their wives got back home. Made some nice extra cash!
