I find that this type of connotation/denotation blending is really common among leftists, at least in internet circles. An extremely benign academic definition is used to paint labels, but then it’s rhetorically matched with informal understanding as a pejorative term.

For the right price, I’m sure. And while they obviously aren’t going to be appealing to a community college sociology professor at any reasonable price, there’s a lot of people in the US facing pretty significant poverty due to various economic changes. I wouldn’t be surprised if those people were perfectly willing to work seasonal jobs if given decent pay and travel to/from the job when the season starts/ends.

Or we can just keep driving wages straight into the ground by taking advantage of migrant labor willing to work for pennies on the dollar 🤷
