I as a matter of fact have

I think if you consider Patreon, also do consider OpenCollective as well. I know a lot of people including myself use it quite often.
That is hilarious 😂
I’ve set up a bunch of config files on my GitHub, so I clone the repo into my distro and symlink it to set up a bunch of stuff. I’ve also written a script that can install all my programs by reading through a text file. It’s helpful to get up and running quickly
Here’s a link to their FAQ in case anyone is interested
I think the bot account is already flagged as one, and going to its profile shows you it has been made to crosspost from Reddit. I guess it makes sense to ban it at a per-user level because some users might like to see content cross posted from there.
Wow the CNN lite thing is awesome! I think it’d be great to set up a permanent redirect to it from the CNN website. Probably will use TamperMonkey and set it up
And life will find a way to survive. It’s the humans who are screwed
Pretty much depends on who I’m cursing at lol
Not OP, but I’d like to contribute if possible. I am a developer and I am quite experienced in building both Android and web apps. IMO the biggest upside of the software being open source is not that the code is auditable (although that is definitely a plus as well) but that others can contribute to the development of the application as well.
If the dev wants to monetize the app later on, they can still have an open source “core” but bolt on “premium” features that can be proprietary. Think of Chromium and Chrome or (ironically) CentOS and RHEL. It also increases the bus factor as others can take up the mantle if the current dev no longer can/wants to maintain the app.
I’m actually on linux haha. I realize linux doesn’t have full support for MacBooks yet, and the Asahi project is working on it. But I’m not looking to use Windows at all.
I think I’ll wait for the next gen of both laptops to see what is better. If Apple releases an M3 chip that is considerably better than M2, and/or they add DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5 speed SSDs, it will probably be a no-brainer.
Yeah that’s a pretty accurate way of putting it ngl. I’m probably stealing this
I was actually looking into buying ThinkPads. Would you say they’re as good/maintainable/upgradeable as they used to be? Or is it better to get a MacBook and replace it after 5 or so years?
And then it’s going to put more pressure on the medical system to take care of them. This is dumb.
