It already reduces housing costs for those who move away from high cost of living areas. Also, access to high speed internet is already common in rural areas of the USA. It wasn’t 10 years ago but we’ve made a lot of progress.

Audiobooks are also passive listening which is not cognitively absorbed as thoroughly as active reading. IMO you have not “read” a book if you just listened to someone read it to you. Reading with your own eyes engages more thinking processes, forcing the reader to think more about what they’ve read.

Yes, they are the best medium for long term backups, as optical discs should be fine for decades. Hard drives and USB sticks are liable to fail within a few years.
A phone is just not as good as a computer for anything except taking pictures, sending messages, and being portable. So if I’m at home where my computers are I only use a computer for anything online, except messaging. Having to do everything on a phone sounds horrible to me.
I’d opt out of or cancel any service that requires that.
