Haven’t got bedside drawers but my bedside table is actually my daughter’s desk, which is too small for her to use effectively as a desk anymore. It sits in between her bed and mine and functions as both our bedside tables. As well as random desky things it displays an odd assortment of children’s books and toys, moisturising lotions and lip balms. Inside the single cupboard of the desk are some books I like to keep near me (like the Tao the Ching, which I read, and a family hymn book, which I don’t). I also keep a spare phone there. Mostly there is a selection of old exercise books the kids did school work in during the early years in the before times, when nobody had anxiety or school refusal and they were enthusiastic about learning and school in general. They were golden times and I didn’t realise it, and sometimes I get some of those books out and read some of their crazy imaginative stories and think about it all.

When I’m at work (food manufacturing) I don’t mind because I’m getting paid for it, so when I’m doing it at home it seems an especially thankless task!

Roadworks in my street today. Wonder how long it’ll last this time. It’s only been a couple of years since the last lot, and my street is only 10 houses long!

I’m not sure either, and I’m really conscious of it when I take my kids with me 😳 It’s like, I know you’ve got problems but don’t. talk. to. my. kids when you’re off your head mate, or we will have a problem.

I had one come up to me in the supermarket tonight and ask for money. I said I didn’t have any cash. The next person he asked said, “nah the bank’s got all mine!”

Chaos! Nah, they get to choose the nursing home 😂

Pasta or home made pizza, haven’t decided yet. Knowing my kids I’ll probably end up doing a bit of both 😆

Went to bed early, now wide awake. Sat on the toilet and someone had piddled all over the seat. Some magpie is warbling, at this hour!

I’m so sorry to hear this is happening to you, especially them changing the requirements after you started there. It’s not fair at all, and I hope they come to their senses or that you can find something better.

Went to the farmers market this morning and stocked up on mostly unnecessary but very tasty items. It was lovely to wander about in the sun, and there are always plenty of dogs to admire.

Then, when I came home I bit the bullet and cleaned out my plastics cupboard. Got rid of all the superfluous and unmatched things and have a more usable cupboard as a result.

I’ve thought in the past that they seem to alternate “special” weeks, and also that Woolies and Coles take turns having a thing “on special,” but seeing this in graph form is certainly enlightening.

A Mediterranean vegetable stew, ratatouille, roasted vegetable salad or vegetable curry would make good use of them.

That’s a win in itself these days
