Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Where is the appropriate place to ask Lemmy for help with fundingEnglish
27·4 days agoYou’re gonna have a hard time convincing people this is legit with a brand new account with no post history. Regardless, good luck. My dog just cost me nearly two grand for surgery last week.

News@lemmy.world•Iran Publicly Executes Teen Champion Wrestler for Protesting RegimeEnglish
11·4 days agoThat birth rate is fairly in line with many Middle East nations which range anywhere from 2-4. Besides, your claim that a high birth rate means that Israel isn’t killing children is a non-sequitur.
You know there were babies born in concentration camps in Nazi Germany, right?

82·4 days agoPlaces with high infant and child mortality tend to have higher birth rates specifically because people count on not all of their children surviving to adulthood.
Stop spreading FUD about genocide, it’s disgusting.

News@lemmy.world•FBI warned US West Coast police that Iran might try a drone attack: reportEnglish
71·13 days agoThe vast majority of the Iranian diaspora is in California, and many of them are Pahlavists. I’d think that high concentration of Iranian immigrants would make it easier for an operative to hide within as well.
While I don’t trust the FBI, there are conceivable reasons why they’d target California.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I'd like to ask everyone, which movie have you rewatched more than three times?English
4·15 days agoThere was a time I’d watch V for Vendetta every November 5th, but that’s fallen off in recent years. Still a great movie; it’s one of those few films I think is better than the source material. I have also probably seen Billy Madison 500 times. There are a ton more I could list but those are jumping out in my head

7·16 days agoIt’s not about the arbitrary number, it’s about where the sun is when that number not dictated by me rolls around.

6·16 days agoAgain, I don’t get to set my own schedule, they’re determined by these numbers that while arbitrary, are rigid. Drop a kid off an hour late to school every day and have fun explaining that to a truancy officer, or tell your boss you’re leaving work an hour early to catch some sunlight and see how that goes.
This the new RE game?

451·17 days agoIt’s also dependent on where you live. Someone living on the easternmost part of a time zone is going to tend to want DST over standard as compared to someone living on the westernmost part. I live in the easternmost part of the Eastern US time zone and I’d pick DST if I had the choice.

4·18 days agoI’ll usually put a pint in for 10 seconds or so. It softens the ice cream pretty uniformly, just a bit more on the edges than the center.

I just saw a clip of ICE detaining a woman and her child at an airport in SF. They were through security and presumably leaving the country.
