  • As a casual user of Linux (no strong inclination or skill in coding), I tend to veer towards distros that minimize the Terminal usage in favor of graphical user interfaces for accomplishing most changes. Modern Linux distros are a lot friendlier in terms of installing Software from a distro store and graphic drivers via a graphical interface. You won’t ever fully be able to eliminate the terminal usage, as it’s inevitable for certain tasks like adding PPAs on Ubuntu for example. It was honestly word salad for me during my first foray into the Linux world; but now I have a basic understanding of the Linux kernel and how it functions on a very surface level. I know enough to string commands together and understand the reason why it’s necessary to do things in a certain order.

I’m not sure if you’d have a good time with Linux, I’m hesitant to tell you to take the plunge because you will have to faff around with the terminal and use commands at times to accomplish certain things. That requires both focus and patience, which is not something which is naturally difficult for those with ADHD (unless a hyperfixation is quite strong). I’d give yourself time to think about switching for a while, ultimately you might be better sticking with the current OS that you’re using.

  • THIS, 1,000%! Third Party doesn’t have a huge presence in the USA, only because people don’t do the work to get it there. It requires a lot of work that should be done just after the new sitting president is elected. Building a recognizable platform with proper support takes a lot of effort. It would be worth it, though, to truly support the people in ways which a two party system cannot. Holding the President and other people in power accountable with sensible words and meaningful action would get a party to gradually become a household name.

After I vote for Kamala, this is what I will be looking into. Finding a third party (one with aims to support everyone, no matter gender, sexuality, etc).

  • Such a deeply troubling article…They sought a noble thing in dark fucking places; trying to make a better model of parenting and expressions of masculinity which wouldn’t lead to a similar situation of Nazi Germany. If only they had chosen a different route for several of their experiments, they might have actually succeeded. I always wondered why homosexuality and pedophilia were conflated in most people’s minds; this article explains it to me. I’m glad this survivor manages to heal after he suffers for so long.

  • Yeah, the Public Transit situation in the USA needs a total overhaul; cities are too hostile towards foot and bike traffic. By addressing the capacity needed to transport people to their destinations and altering city planning, cars will become an option instead of a necessity. I’d love for the US to get more into trains like Europe has; that would help bridge the distance for people needing to travel cross country. I’d be able to travel more as a car free person.

  • While it’s true that the Palestinians don’t support members of the LGBTQ community as a whole; Letting them be killed by Israel without speaking up or advocating for a ceasefire is a bad thing in my opinion! As a gay man, I don’t support Israel’s choice to successfully carry out a genocide for the sake of slaking their hatred. It’s inhumane and would only prompt other dubious, morally bankrupt individuals to violate the social contract by organizing a genocide of their own. Israel needs to face the consequences of their actions, not only for the sake of those in the Gaza Strip who are suffering in inhumane conditions; also for those who would be made a target for a genocide as well and are barely protected by the social contract.
