Yeah, I’ve spent so much time smashing my head against the wall trying to resolve issues that would be very simple to solve on windows, largely cause windows is the native platform for a lot of this shit so its just inherently easier there.

The best example of that was setting up Stalker Anomaly. Good god was that a fucking nightmare. Cyberpunks not to fun either trying to get the mods set up.

Someone should analyze the app and see what permissions it needs, cause it could be a much bigger sticking point than anyone realizes if its spying on your phone activities.

r2modman supports 4 games, 3 of which are relatively obscure.

It only supports Stardew Valley and Cyberpunk at the moment iirc.

Cyberpunk is a good one though, cause it requires running external .exe files for some of the mods to install/run. Which I hope they get working, cause thats also kind of a problem games Skyrim/Fallout/Starfield have, in that the most essential mod is Script Extender, and trying to find a way to launch it on linux that will launch the game.

People who are proud of getting a good deal via an app break my heart. Most folks I know like that are not strapped for cash. They just like the feeling of getting a bargain. They don’t consider that the prices are artificially inflated.

People think they are getting awesome deals cause its 50% off, are not going and checking price trackers to see the item had a HUGE price spike a week before Prime Day.

But they think they got 50% off and that gives them that massive dopamine rush, and that encourages more spending.

but if you containerize it in an app, you can remove all those pesky safety measures Which lets you turn a customer into a product by siphoning up all their data and information.

the overwhelming majority of apps are nothing but websites wrapped in apps that strip away all the privacy and protections anyway, and demand far to many permissions for shit that are completely irrelevant to their purpose (because they want to siphon literally everything out of your phone and monetize the information).

7 was a great and brilliant game, with an enormous world and an incredible story… It certainly deserves a lot of hype for what it did and achieved, but I also think its telling that instead of just giving it a graphical update and releasing it for modern systems, Square is doing…whatever horrid shit they are doing with the remake thats basically killed it for me forever.

8 did a lot different. Not just different from 7, but also different from Final Fantasy in general. I think thats why it doesnt have as much love, that, and it it had the misfortune of having to follow 7. But I think that chance it took is what makes it special. Genuinely special.

Unfortunately a lot of people didnt seem to think so, which made Square go back to the classic airship fantasy world that most other final fantasy games used with FF9. They started taking chances again with 10, which was more well received and really blew open the flood gates

I think games were great cause the limits they were made in. Limitations that are long gone, and games suffer as a result.
