  • That’s not the greater good, that’s participating in the system that exists to support the pet industry at large. Vegans generally understand how these associations work since they track it so closely with the meat industry and it’s ancillaries.

If you want to argue harm reduction and greater good, there are literally millions of feral cats that feed on billions of birds a year and garbage. Spend your time trapping feral cats and getting them spayed or neutered, it takes a while but the only way to reduce the incredibly huge population of feral cats we have is to maintain their colonies but reduce their ability to reproduce.

That way new, un-spayed or un-neutered cats won’t move into the area where there’s already food resources (which happens with trap and release or worse options). Reducing the population of feral cats humanely is a net positive for the animals and society.

Adopting a cat from a shelter, no matter the state of that cat, isn’t a greater good. It’s a personal choice you made, it a selfish decision wrapped in a pretty box.

  • They aren’t your companions, you are exploiting them for companionship. These meat eating pets can’t consent to a vegan diet, they are also not ethically required by their choice to not engage in the meat system.

That’s your choice, you are forcing that choice on an animal that isn’t getting anything from you they wouldn’t get with a non-vegan pet owner, your love isn’t special.

You could ethically choose to keep any number of naturally vegan animals. You selfishly choose to keep a cat or a dog cause you like them more.

Shit is messed up in my opinion and you buried the lead with your post. I’m glad other people were around to give context to this.

  • One of the most amazing experiences as an adult is going back through pictures of people doing things. My friends, my family. I sit with my wife and kids and we tell stories to them about our youth, they ask questions about them. The most amazing experience is showing them those pictures and seeing their amazement that their old parents were once young men and women.

There is nothing wrong with not posting those for other people, but pictures of people have a way helping you visceraly remember the emotions of that event.

You’re not wrong at all, that’s just a different perspective on pictures.

  • Thus far I’ve only seen memes over people salty about Biden making the right decision talking about rhetoric switching to Kamala. In fact I’ve seen several now.

It’s like you want something to push back against so bad you need to make it!

    Edit:

Yeah I was wrong… Jimmydoreisalefty is spamming anti Kamala memes right when Russia starts their 9-5 shifts like it’s his job… Oh wait

  • Yes that’s true, that true with almost every country. That doesn’t remove any of the extenuating circumstances that Trump created as the executive in office at the time. And almost any other previous Republican or Democrat who had been in office would have done better.

Trump isn’t a magician or something, he’s was just a terrible president who mishandled every bit of communication. All you are doing is strawmanning a negative opinion against a person who had an important job and fucked it up.

  • I really feel like you’ve purposefully shoved down the memory hole how much of the anti mask rhetoric came directly from Trump’s cabinet and network, and how he refused to wear them in public, expect for a couple occasions, because they would mess up his makeup.

That not even talking and how he would undermine anything coming out of the CDC that wasn’t positive or contradicted one of the stupid things he said.

Trump was uniquely terrible as a leader during COVID, honestly had he done an excellent job he probably would have been re-elected in 2020.

  • He fucked up the COVID response so bad that the cognitive dissonance in the country led directly to a undermining of just about every institution that would be responsible for handling it. His embracing of obvious lies in public because they played to his base while acknowledging the truth of those thing in private, creating a dichotomy of response that actually played anyone without their head up their ass directly against those that did, within groups inside his own administration!

His admin helped facilitate a vaccine he then directly undermined! Then he tries to take credit for that work constantly.

Like honestly I was almost with you until you said that last bit which is hand down one of the dumbest things in context I’ve ever seen.

  • The bent pyramid is so cool, it’s the second pyramid they built that fucked up. Once they had to change the angle to stop the burial chambers from collapsing, they started work on the 3rd and final Red pyramid, which they nailed and buried Sneferu in.

They used all that knowledge that they gained in failure directly to create the great pyramid. It’s a unbroken chain of engineering marvels!

  • IMO there’s also a contingent of people who are demotivated to participate. Lack of participation hurts Biden more than trump.

Despite the danger, Trump doesn’t feel like an imminent threat to most people. He’s not motivating enough alone to bring out Democratic voters. However you do have a bunch of shit demotivating those voters. Gaza, money, immigration. The only big motivator is abortion, and Biden kinda flubbed that.

A Dem win will be on abortion alone at this point, unless something huge changes.

What does this mean, you admit this particular show is not very good but might eventually be good?

This stupid woke/dei shit is just the culture war du jour, if the product that was being released was excellent, there wouldn’t be as much fuel to call a show bad for whatever reason.

But as the previous poster noted, there have been properties that were celebrated on release because they are good. The first Mandalorian episodes meet a near orgasmic fervor.

Acolyte at best is maybe just ok to not very compelling imo, that’s up against the other now recent star wars properties like Andor, which is and was critically acclaimed. The argument just falls apart when you use an objectively not very good show like Acolyte.
