I’m fine with Spotify buying out his show and featuring it next to Joe Rogan where I can ignore them both, but it’s horrifying that anyone whpould vote for that
In my case, unfortunately most of us no longer live in the same state as my Mom. I have one brother remaining there and he does what he can, but there’s only so much we can lay on him
Or the 10¢ plastic bags are now reusable …. Now I’m getting into the habit of reusing them, and the cost is rapidly approaching zero. They’re still plastic, but that also means they are lighter, more compact, and they’re an improvement in that I do re-use them many times. It means that yes, I’ve accumulated 100 in my trunk so I always have enough and I’m not afraid to throw one out if it is contaminated
When the cloth bags first came out, I typically saw them for more like $1. Maybe I’m spoiled by that expectation
As the saying goes, “the second best time to plant a tree is today”. Yeah, we’re missing so many decades where we could have actually prevented many of the consequences, but it will still get worse if we don’t act now.
Assuming Harris also supports Biden’s IRA from a couple years ago, it is the biggest investment in reducing climate change from the US ever, and is certainly projected to reduce carbon emissions. I remember projections at the time saying it gets us halfway to our car in emissions goal. It’s a good start, but now we need someone who can build on that to get us the rest of the way, not someone who will deny, repeal, and backslide. I’m confident Harris will at least hold the line, but there’s still hope she will walk frward
I his whole idea is awfully reminiscent of a certain political party insisting ACA is bad and needs to be repealed? Why? It’s bad? What are you going to do instead? We have a concept.
I’m not necessarily disagreeing with the idea but yes there needs to be something do do with criminal offenders as either punishment or protecting civilization from repeat offenders. There needs to be some way for offenders to regret their actions or some opportunity to re-think their choices. Reforming civilization to address those who are in actual need is the first step, as is redirecting away from prison where you can, but it’s nowhere near sufficient. Way too many criminals are actual criminals
I do wonder about that. The huge lines that make the news always seem to be in Red states where it’s important to “save money” on elections, but my experience is in blue states where they prioritize voting.
However I have no where near wide enough experience to generalize
Must be nice. My first reaction is what forever chemicals made it resistant to staining from strawberry or grape
Even with that reasoning, at some point you’ve gone way too far into fraud. This may be it: it doesn’t look possible to make the actual meat look anything like the marketing photo.
Everyone knows Republicans are better for business. Just ask Donald Trump, he’ll tell you
I know a surprising number of immigrants of various flavors, who are proud of overcoming all the obstacles to build a better, successful life for themselves and their families. They object to other immigrants “getting special favors”, “not following the rules”, “getting it easy”. Some of it is justified pride in their accomplishments but I can’t help but believe they are misinformed about attempted reforms, just like many other conservatives
At least it wasn’t a roadster
I don’t understand articles like this. I’ve never been in a place where it’s taken more than say 20 minutes to vote. The longest line was still within the air conditioned school that was my polling place. The only difficulty is spending that time staring at and smelling the bake sale to raise additional funds for the school
workers called it amazing to see so many people exercising their right to vote
That’s great, but why aren’t they offended that their government made this such a hardship? Why isn’t the FEC forcing remediation including more investment if necessary? Why isn’t whoever made choices resulting in this line fired?
How is that a four hour line is not clear evidence of interfering with an election, and get immediately addressed?

How is that a four hour line is not clear evidence of interfering with an election, and get immediately addressed, potentially including firing, fines, criminal charges?
If those are valid substitutes for prison and they do exist, then why does prison still get the bulk of the offenders? I’m all for your idea but reality seems to be proving those solutions do not apply to most cases of criminal justice
If you look at any projection online, you’ll see a huge difference in expected results for each of the major candidates. Neither is enough, but the choice matters. A lot
Edit: or if you read the article like I just did, the second line is you’re
voting to determine whether we’ll be in the top row or the bottom row.
Yeah the chart is out of date so it will be worse, but are you really going to claim the top row of the chart is identical to the bottom row?
Even if it is is no longer economically practical according to their definition, I have no empathy. Usually iits because of defeating one of the steps that would get you there.
Given the example in the article, I don’t know how practical the goal is to achieve since I don’t live in NY but I know that abandoning NYC congestion pricing means making less progress, the goal will be more difficult to achieve. Congrats you’ve created your own problem
And yet research was blocked for quite a few years for religious reasons. You may be comfortable with where we are now but what if we were ten years ahead of that
Very true. In contrast, I’m fed up with Firestick and am interested in trying AppleTV instead. But that device is two years old. I’m not in a hurry to buy, so that means I’m on the sidelines as I waited for the Spring announcement, then the summer announcement, then the fall announcement, and a new model never came. Now I’m getting stubborn: there must be a new version coming soon. If I knew when to expect any update, Apple would likely already have my money
