If i havent heard of it or I HAVE, its prolly deepcut
I still rewatch episodes of Monkey Dust. If you like pitch black British humor, it’s for you.
God I love Monkey Dust. Can’t believe it ended 20 years ago now.
“I never done it, I only said I done it so they’d take me bellend oot’a the Magimix.”
I use the Russian roulette party game as a gauge to see how people will react to the show. If they find it funny, they’re likely to enjoy the rest. If they don’t, then they’ll REALLY hate where some of the other scenes go.
Megas: XLR
Gundam for boyz
Ugly Americans.
Code Monkeys
The Life & Times of Tim
One other person mentioned it but I’ll put Tom Goes to the Mayor out there too.
I feel like if you didn’t grow up in the rust belt or some other dead part of the USA without anything but public access TV, a lot of the humor is lost on you.
But for those few who did…it was nice to feel seen.
TGTTM is the beginning of a vast, graceful arc that leads eventually, inevitably, to Check It Out With Scott Clam.
Frisky Dingo
A scion tc
Cat party is still my favourite ringtone.
Do you have bluetooth?
Cat party? It’s all about Dog Party now.
Killface 2028!
Master cylinder!
Xavier: Renegade Angel, dunno if it counts because it’s computer animation but some good TV-MA psychedelic social satire
Vernon Chatman before South Park was great! Not that he wasn’t great for SP.
Another that doesn’t meet the qualification is Wonder Showzen. So great!
The Heart She Holler was pretty good too
I don’t see Aeon Flux mentioned yet. The Maxx is very good too. Duckman I remember being hilarious, but I dunno if starring Jason Alexander counts as a deep cut.
I’ll 1 up you and go with Liquid Television, where Aeon Flux started-- like Tracy Ulman & the Simpsons.
Duckman was pretty mainstream when it aired, but it’s been largely forgotten. Ahead of its time, humor-wise.
All of the adult swim shows like ATHF, Brak Show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Squidbillies, Home Movies, Metalocalypse, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Sealab 2021, and probably a few others I can’t remember. Also, not animated but I would put Sifl & Olly in the mix because it fucking rocks.
Everybody should check out the adultswim.fan instance which has communities for all these shows as well as general ones like [email protected] and [email protected]
Heck yeah to all these!
I had a black cat with green eyes I named Sifl. Got attitude from quite a few people about what TF was wrong with me for naming a cat after syphilis…
Hoops is a recent one that cracked my shit up, and I was bummed didn’t get another season of two
Don’t forget Brak! That was my favorite
Mission Hill
I remember loving this show as a kid! I still laugh when I think about “douchebag” written in cursive.
You may be happy to know there is an archive of all the episodes :)
Drawn Together was hilarious. It ended because sponsors were too uncomfortable advertising alongside it. It could never get made today.
Did you ever see the movie? It’s basically the creators bitching because they were shunned for the content while South Park was lauded because it came with a heavy-handed moral.
I had no idea. I’m gonna watch that tonight. Thanks!
12 oz. Mouse. Twelve is also the number of fans the show has.
Edit: shoutout to [email protected] where I am the only person who posts.
All I remember of that show was catching it on a VHS after I left it recording to grab squidbillies one night, and there was a scene of a shark trying to start a car for a really, really long time, which was pretty damn funny.
That’s a great episode lol
“You barely piece of suck-ass car.”
You’re not gonna believe this, my upvote just got you to 12
Yeah loved that series, had no idea that it was ever considered to be continued
That show is so dang good.
Okay I haven’t heard of a lot here.
I don’t know if it’s the most obscure or deep cut but my favorite vote goes to Moral Orel. It gets dark in a way that doesn’t look like it.
Billy and Mandy and Duck Dodgers imo don’t belong to this list
Surprised you didn’t add the MTV one such as AEon Flux, The Head, The Maxx. Aeon in particular is a favorite of mine, watching it is very wtf. I think it should belong to this list.
1st and second season: haha, oh orel
3rd :
The Brothers Grunt
Patience grashppper
Fritz the Cat. Not to be confused with Felix the Cat. Fritz the Cat was, essentially, an adults only version of Felix. And by adult only I mean pornographic.
I’m also not seeing anyone mention Mission Hill so throw that onto the pile. It’s hella good.
Also Clone High.
+1 for Clone High. I still quote it regularly.
“Precious cargo”… ☕️
Salute from the old skool! And oh my brother, does the internet archive have a treat for you…
A lot of things listed here are earler works from well-known creators, like Clone High (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump St, Sealab 2021 (Archer), Bravest Warriors (Adventure Time), Home Movies (Metalocalypse, Squid Billies).
Extra shoutout to China, IL. Love all the oldet Professir Bros. stuff on YouTube, like Roleplaying Tornament and Queeblo that I still sing all the time
The old Brad Neely stuff is really special.
I think doing the serialized China IL broke him somehow…but the old stuff is some of my favorite media. There’s just such charm to this neurodivergent harmless manchild main character.
Turns out, we were both in love with the same fresh ghost.
