So much negativity, regardless of motivation shouldn’t we applaud big companies for doing the right thing and reward them? Or are we all just going to fall over ourselves to give TakeTwo our money for GTA6 after they’ve screwed with the community?

I think they just figured out they can offload the modernization of old games to the community. People will still have to buy the game to get the assets needed to play it legally.

OpenRA has been a thing for a while. Maybe they figure this is the final squeeze at the lemon before it becomes irrelevant.

OpenRA is just a set of fan games though skinned to look like the originals, this code is the real deal to play the original gane content. OpenRA only has remakes of the early games too, the source release has Renegade and General/Zer Hour.

I feel like it might be a bit like Ubisoft, although not as bad.

Ubisoft is going back and adding Steam Achievements to all or many of their games, and maybe try to get a better image

EA has some bigger titles not perform like they’d like, e.g. Veilguard, FC 25, maybe Immortals of Avernum, Wild Hearts, Dead Space remake, etc., so they might not want to let it get as bad as Ubi, with some small, easy “wins.”

This is just my theory, of course, I don’t really know anything.
