maybe consider doing smaller steps? joining the testing team, follow the explanations of people, maybe read megi’s blog on pinephone driver development https://xnux.eu/log/index.html
Thank you for the insight! I’ve added this to my rss flux.
I have another more pragmatic problem : I don’t know any way to use Whatsapp or Signal without an external android phone linked to it. I don’t have the incentive to spend my time improving support if I know I could not use it in everyday life.
EDIT : Thus said, I’ve just read the situation improved with Flare (client for Signal) and Whatsapp Web, which both doesn’t require an active phone connection. Only at registration (which is still a problem).
How does Waydroid works with background apps? Is it possible to launch a foreground app with waydroid then close it and discharge waydroid (to avoid battery drain) ?

the solution is waydroid. that way you can run signal and stuff on postmarketos
Anyway, thank you. I’ll try waydroid and postmarketos with qemu to get around with it :)
Do you use it? What are the drawbacks?
Afaik battery drain is very bad when using apps through Waydroid.
