I feel like video games are about as diverse as books are now. Anyone can play anything they want. Of course, they blame capitalism for the lack of new creative games, but I see all sorts of creative games. Lethal Company makes excellent satire on capitalism and is one of the better games this year. Helldivers is another great satirical game

There are still old games that work too, and we have a large collection of history to play through. They mentioned RCT2, a 20 year old game at this point.

Capitalism isn’t really to blame for triple A games failing. It’s usually scope issues and trying to please a certain audience. Indie games and old games address that problem. Don’t like the new stuff? Just play the old stuff.

If there’s anything to blame on capitalism, it’s the state of mobile games, riddled with micro transactions and gotcha. It’s designed to separate you from your money. The best mobile games are just ports of desktop games, as that is a market that doesn’t rely on you making as many transactions as possible.

There’s also subscription services. This doesn’t have to be solved though a revolution, but can be solved through consumer protections.
