I want to like Tech Ingredients, but can’t get over how dad always comes off as smug know-it-all that has discovered a superior solution for just about anything. It’s not about the technical content, but how it’s presented. Can’t stand it.

Don’t get me started about the cringe episode enabling his son to interview some attractive girl he had a crush on by leveraging the YouTube channel.

I figured he’s on the spectrum. My buddies dad is almost like this, but definitely not on the spectrum.

      What interview was this?

That would be this one: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MVYYjMMZtz4

Not related to the channel content at all, except entomology is also a science. Overall, I can’t blame anyone for what they did there, but it still felt a bit odd at the time.

(I am aware they gave a reasonable explanation for this, but you know…)

Interesting, I never perceived a smugness to his presentations, I always felt they came across like a teacher very concisely presenting a lesson to a classroom. I would’ve loved to have had him as a teacher, but that’s just me.

Oh, I absolutely do believe he has worked in education, it’s just there is something off about the guy.

No doubt a science lesson given by him in the same style and with the same prep work would be great, these things are not mutually exclusive. I just don’t really vibe with the character.

Air conditioners are Heatpumps without a valve to reverse the direction of cooling/heating. If you flip an air conditioner around, it will produce heat at about 3 to 4x greater efficiency compared to an electric resistance heater.

Most modern ACs have heating available as a function, so no need to flip it.

Oddly, I’ve never seen a reversible window AC in my area. Checking my local stores, they’re definitely a bit more expensive than the non-heating models (cheapest I could find was $489), which might explain it.

you know those noisy portable AC units with hoses? if you have a balcony or porch this may be an ideal option for you since the noise goes outside and the heat goes inside with minimal noise.
