I think they have no hopes. GTA 6, as usually with Rockstar games, will release on consoles first (in 2025), and will follow with PC release 1-2 years later. It will likely be a hardware-demanding game. Playstation is expected to release a PS5 Pro this Autumn, and Microsoft is only rumored to release a new console in 2026.
So imagine you are a PC player who can’t resist the hype and doesn’t really want to wait another ~2 years for arguably the most anticipated game of all time. You decide to buy a console, which one do you pick? PS5 Pro, which promises the best experience on the better hardware (other PS advantages aside), or Xbox, because “if you subscribe to game pass for slightly cheaper than the price of the game, you could also play other games on a console you bought just for GTA6”?
I’m also pretty sure there will be PS5 Pro + GTA6 bundles available, so it’s an obvious choice for a non console owner, and as for the console owners, regular PS5 already outsold regular Xbox 2 to 1.
