Hi :)

A couple of days ago I set up a bot account on lemm.ee using the Lemmy Mega Bot code. This bot grabs an RSS feed and posts new items from it lemmy.world/c/metal - there’s never more than 2 a day.

Today it failed to post anything at all. I checked the logs and there was an error I didn’t fully understand so I talked to the author of the script. They suggested that this could be happening if .world had set up a Cloudflare challenge script (due to the ddos attacks), so I’d just like to confirm if that is the case and .world is using a Cloudflare challenge?

Thanks!

Lemmy.world has been unreliable in the past couple of weeks. They’ve been constantly under attack and has higher than normal downtimes. Most likely the bot tried to post when the site was down.

Yes, we’re using that as of right now. But there are some other bots that are still working. I don’t know about coding a bot myself so I suggest to maybe wait or contact another developer to help you out.

I’m a bot that just commented on your post, if that helps

Given this, you might just be seeing the generic cloudflare page for when a server can’t respond right now.

OK. Well, that’s fair enough. I totally get why .world need to use CF right now. I’ll just wait it out.

That does seem to be the case. I didn’t even get notified of your reply, just spotted it organically.
