    Hi everyone,

I wanna share with you my latest experience. I had been waiting for years to finally go to the Nürbürgring and I’ve now done it.

It took us around 7 hours to drive from Geneva, Switzerland, but it was worth it.

At first, I wanted to go with my own car, Seat Leon Cupra St 300 4Drive, but I didn’t manage to get it insured so I had to rent one.

As my only experience with the track was on Gran Turismo, I wanted one of the least powerful cars Front wheel driven I could find.

I was supposed to get a Hyundai I20N from ringtoys, but someone crashed it before my arrival. Instead they gave me a Renault Megane RS Trophy 275

I did 2 laps of the ring with a 15 minutes break in between. I can now say that I’m really happy I knew every part of the track by heart after years of Gran Turismo or Project Cars, but still I wasn’t prepared for such madness.

During my 2 laps, I only overtook 2 cars, an rs6 c6 v10 and and probably a first gen 130i. I got overtaken at least 15 times and the speed differential was crazy. It wasn’t only the 911 gt3 and m3 but also least powerful cars. It was very humbling.

I consider myself a good driver, but I couldn’t trust the car enough to really look for its limits which are supposed to be really high. It was also difficult to manage the circulation flow on such a tight track with so many ondulations and curves.

Overall I really loved the experience as it was really scary and unforgettable.

Have you ever been to the ring? If so how was your experience?

Thanks for sharing! Haven’t been yet, but definitely want to go! Did you do any track days elsewhere before this?

I had never done an official track day before.

But, since I’m a cop, we sometimes get to drive on closed roads on military places to practice driving at the limit and doing some car interpellations.

But we’re not looking for a fast time, more for a safe drive and interpellation.

We also have courses where the road is wet or you have to drive on a plate and the plate moves to unbalance your car car and you have to catch it without arming anyone.

So I’d say I’m used to driving faster than most people while taking into account other drivers around me, but clearly a bad pilot on a track😅

Damn very good post OP. I didn’t expect these kinds of quality posts here, so early in the Lemmy life cycle!
