To be totally honest, both the old AND new testament have lots of sentiments like this, including much of the teachings of Jesus. The new Republican “Prosperity Gospel” is actually a pretty newfangled thing that was once unpopular and seen as fringe. It’s manipulative billionaires and corporate types who co-opted it and made it mainstream by bribing well-spoken pastors into changing their tune.
Hence movements and political parties such as Christian Socialism, and old school Catholicism having things such as dislike of excess profits, lending money at interest, the year of Jubilee (forgiveness of all debts every 50 years or so) vows of poverty, etc.
Not Christian myself (anymore) but I found it absolutely fascinating how “Conservative” Christians are basically anti-christs and also just like the Pharisees and corrupt Kings and such that Jesus (and prophets before him) were always haranguing.
