Four years ago I was in France for the Women’s World Cup. Infrastructure was a disaster – poor transit, chaotic venue entry/exit, long lines everywhere.
In New Zealand for this year’s tournament, and holy moly, the Kiwis have this thing figured out.
In Auckland, your game ticket gets you onto buses and trains for free. Today we took the train from Britomart Station to Kingsland, then walked 2 minutes to Eden Park. 8 mins after game end, we were seated on the train home.
Yeah it’s generally like that for most games. It is extremely practical to park the car elsewhere and catch the train.
Just spent a week in southern France, their transport in general is a gong show. It’s less that they fail at doing it well and more that they clearly just don’t care
