I found this one under the carpet. Someone had swept it under. Possibly she herself. If you don’t know this face, you’re in luck. You’ll get to experience it all anew. Click here.

I actually feel really bad for her. She was a child. She didn’t know what she was doing. And sure, it’s a bad song, but is it bad enough for her to deserve PTSD? For her to deserve being hounded and haunted her whole life? She’s a human being, after all.

Her career has turned truly interesting. She gained unintentional fame for doing a music video as a birthday present from her parents that was produced by a production company that boardered on exploitative. She for bullied online somewhat constantly from then on for something she really hadn’t asked for everyone to see, and has since reclaimed her image and that song and is now comfortably paying the bills making pop songs

Rebecca Black and Monica Lewinsky must co-own a damn lemonade factory. Out here turning lemons into lemonade like it’s just business.

Even when it first happened, she leaned into it and capitalized on it really well. I remember CollegeHumor did a whole fantastic “Black Friday” parody thing featuring her not long after the video went viral.

      it actually slaps

These old memes caused me to briefly forget how out of touch I am with today’s youth. Thanks for reigning me in.

OK but that was actually kinda fire. I hadn’t heard the original song since high school and this is better

To me it’s no better or worse than anything on radio. At least this song is memorable and fun. Which is already better than half the shite out there. Glad she was able to own it and triumph over the bullying. (From the looks of it)

Yeah it’s not the best song in the world but it’s catchy and kinda fun. I can definitely see why some people would say it’s annoying but there’s a reason it went viral.

My wife woke me up this morning by singing this song and squeezing my face to make it look like I was the one singing it.

This song is in my head every friday. It has flaws, but it’s also great in its own way.

Recently I listened to it after a decade of hiatus. It actually aged well and cemented my thought that “old songs are better” are part nostalgia, part changing tastes.
