<div></div> Webasto Charging Systems and JBT AeroTech today launched a mobile EV charging station that supports ground support equipment (GSE) at airports. more… The post This new EV charging station drives around airport tarmacs appeared first on Electrek.
- What is this used for at an airport?
- Where does it get is power?
- What is the alternative to this?
It provides multiple electric charging points from a single grid input power source.
Which seems weird. Why not just set up the charging station at that input power source. I’m pretty much ignorant of the workings of airports though.
I think these would be setup semi-permanently, and only moved if and when significant changes are made to the airport’s operation. Maybe a few times a year.
It’s just for ground support equipment where range is not an issue but downtime is. Why not just make a battery replacement station and a vehicle model whose bbattery can be swapped in a minute?
The option to separate the vehicle and battery quickly can also improve fire safety - a vehicle can drop a burning battery and be pushed away.
